THANK YOU! We've reached our initial goal of $20k, new Helios and Mint Julep albums on the way! Many of you have asked about having the new Helios album "Yume" released on vinyl, so I am setting a stretch goal of $25,000, and if we hit that I will also press my new album on vinyl. Please note: because vinyl was not initially planned and there is currently a large backlog for vinyl pressing with manufacturers due to high demand, the vinyl version will not be ready in time for the initial Helios release (CD/digital), but will be ready a couple of months after (possibly winter or early 2016). Thank you all, your kindness is immeasurable.
My name is Keith Kenniff, I am a composer and performer who records under various monikers (Helios, Goldmund, Mint Julep and my own name). For the past 4 years, I've been working on a new album as Helios and a new album (with my wife Hollie) as Mint Julep. I've been making music as Helios since 2004 and my wife and I started writing music as Mint Julep in 2007. I've been in bands since my father taught me how to play guitar at age 10, I graduated Berklee college of music with a B.A. in performance in 2006 and have performed all over the world. Music is my life, and I love it.

("The Promise" from the forthcoming Mint Julep album "Broken Devotion")
("To The Sea" from the 2010 Mint Julep album "Save Your Season")
("Dragonfly Across an Ancient Sky" from the 2006 Helios album "Eingya")
Hollie and I would like to self release these albums on our label, Unseen. Recording and mixing for the albums is complete, but we're asking for some additional funding to help get the albums pressed and into your hands.
Our target goal is $20,000 which will allow us to pay for many different costs associated with releasing an album digitally and physically. Here's a rough breakdown of the fees / services we must consider:
We have a lot of special gifts planned for contributors. Backers will receive items such as signed CDs, a re-press of my Helios album "Eingya" (originally pressed as a very limited run in 2006), custom remixes/songs created just for you and a limited edition print of the "Yume" cover art created by artist Matthew Woodson.
Our goal is to release "Yume" in August and "Broken Devotion" shortly after, in early autumn. Backers will receive digital and physical CDs of "Yume" first, shortly followed by "Broken Devotion" when it is released afterward.
Risks and challenges
Although we've previously released a Mint Julep EP, a Helios remix album and a digital Helios EP on our own, they were on a small scale and promotion was entirely based on word of mouth. These two albums are on a significantly larger scale and having spent years of our lives on this music, we want to make sure it gets into the hands of our current fans and also gains some new fans along the way. Self-releasing means that we will be essentially in competition with other labels who have a dedicated staff and a fan-base of their own. Access and exposure to music these days can be overwhelming and we hope that the passion and care that we have put into these two projects will translate and connect with people in a meaningful way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
