Artists are dreamers. We dream of a world that values animals and gives them the lives they deserve; a world that doesn't euthanize healthy, adoptable animals. Through Artists for Animals, we intend to bring our dream closer to reality!
In the past 4 years, Artists for Animals has organized, funded, and programmed four performances that resulted in over $60,000 raised for rescue organizations that get homeless animals off the streets and into forever homes. We have incorporated world class musicians, professional photographers, and visual artists into classical events that inspire and educate audience members, and celebrate and support rescue animals. We take rescue animals into the Booker T Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts where they are subjects for the Advanced Placement Life Drawing Class. Those exciting young artists are exposed to the perfection, joy, and beauty of rescues, and in turn they donate their artwork for auction at the concert event. We also involve students from Southern Methodist University who, as college music majors, are learning the importance of giving back to the community in which they live.
We can see the difference Artists for Animals has made in a short amount of time but, more importantly, this success has illuminated a very clear path to a much higher level of impact! Success of this Kickstarter campaign will make the following possible:
*MORE Artists for Animals concerts + MORE venues + MORE artists = MORE LIVES SAVED. The sky is the limit for our friends in need!: We are planning to expand into the premiere concert halls in and around Dallas. These spaces will help us to pull in larger audiences, and also enable us to place the Artists for Animals in "the" line-up of classical music and arts events. These spaces are expensive to rent, even for a non-profit. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice (and fundraise!)
*More Artists for Animals involvement in school programs: We have a multi-faceted goal of teaching humane education while inspiring young artists to give back to their communities throughout their creative lifetimes.
*A line of Artists for Animals merchandise that will "fund the mission" year-round: We're talking notecards, posters, mugs, prints of professional photographs from the amazing you-know-who, ALL designed to raise money for animals in need!
*A national poster contest!: How do we literally expand the walls and create room in a full shelter? Foster care. This poster contest focused on Foster Care of Rescue Animals, and it will be designed to raise awareness and education on this integral (yet lesser known) part of every shelter's rescue mission.
*An Artists for Animals template that can be shared and replicated in other cities amongst other artists to SAVE LIVES NATIONWIDE!: We are creative trailblazers with the Artists for Animals mission, and we are dying to share ideas to help organize and streamline the process for other artists who have expressed interest in creating Artists for Animals Productions!
*An Artists for Animals coffee table book!: We are saving this idea and the subject matter as a surprise, but YOU. WILL. LOVE. IT!!!
Risks and challenges
We know that there are a lot of charities, projects, and events out there that have their hands out to you for funding support. What makes Artists for Animals worthy of your donations?
With the help of the Dallas community, we have built this project from the ground up over the past 4 years, and we have doubled our impact with each passing year. We have brought a completely unique angle to animal rescue and fundraising, and there is not only a place for us in the Dallas community, but also a NEED. We are determined, against any and all odds, to continue with our trajectory.
