Hello music lovers! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Liam Corcoran and I am a singer, songwriter, and sometimes producer from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The genres I tend to work in are pop/rock, alt-country, and folk. Some of you might remember me from my old band Two Hours Traffic - we were active from 2001-2013 and released a slew of albums and toured in many different countries.
Since Two Hours Traffic disbanded, I have continued to write and record music, releasing my first solo EP, ROM-DROM, in 2015. I'm very proud of that album, but I regret that it was only available online...it almost feels like it doesn't truly exist unless you can hold it in your hands, ya know? That's why I'd like everyone to have the opportunity to experience my new record on glorious vinyl! This is where I could use your assistance - vinyl manufacturing isn't cheap, and I would be very grateful if you could help me get across the finish line by purchasing one of the rewards I'm offering.
Before we go any further, this video might give you a better picture of what I've been up to...this is a live acoustic version of one of the songs that will be on the album, including a little bit of commentary about the making of the record (courtesy of Upstreet Brewing and the Humble Barber).
I have been making records since I was 17 years old...and I'm happy to say that I feel good about the music I've been a part of. But something about this new record feels different; I'm not going to say "it's the best thing I've ever done!" because I can't be the judge of that, I just know that I feel a sense of accomplishment that is new to me.
I will say that NEVAHLAND is the one record in my catalogue that is truly a product of my own personal vision. I wrote all the songs, I organized the sessions, and I recruited the people I needed to bring it all to life. And if you will allow me a little bit of name-dropping, the list of musicians on this record includes Kinley Dowling (Hey Rosetta!, KINLEY), Brian Murphy (ALVVAYS), Emilee Sorrey (SORREY), Dan Griffin (Arkells, Teen Ravine), and Nathan Wiley to name a few. There will be a full list of collaborators in the liner notes but I must also acknowledge my musical brother-in-arms and co-producer Mark Geddes for his tireless efforts in making this record a reality.
I've done enough yapping, so now you can preview the most important piece of the puzzle - the recordings! Click on the link below to hear 3 songs that showcase the vibe of the record and the different directions I was going...hope you enjoy. There will be 7 more tracks to hear if you choose to purchase the record.
Risks and challenges
I'm happy to say that I don't foresee any major challenges on the way to completing this project and providing the rewards...there is always the possibility of delays in vinyl manufacturing but I have worked that into the plan and should still be able to ship by November even if issues arise. The rewards which include COLOURED vinyl have a later delivery date because the manufacturer cannot press these at the same time as the normal black vinyl. (However, it is possible that the coloured versions will still be ready in November with everything else). I am working with a dedicated team at a Canadian vinyl press and I have full confidence in their ability to deliver a great product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
