Cubes don't roll so well. This 12-sided die is numbered 1-6 twice. It is rounder, and balanced. It's the iconic d6 evolved -> d(2x6).

Partnerships: Dice Bit Boxes and Secrets of the Lost Tomb

Two great initiatives.

DICE BIT BOXES:

Bobby at Go7 got in touch with me about producing Official Doublesix Dice Boxes (his Kickstarter is currently running, and will end Thursday, Jan 2nd, with about $33,000 pledged, on a $5,000 goal at the moment).

$12 for one of 8 different bit box designs, or $29 for three of them.  (Note: logo font not finalized).

Check out the Doublesix offer in his update here, and his entire Kickstarter here (also includes tokens and other boxes, for games like Dominion and Agricola).

I get 10% of the profit he makes on these puppies (pretty standard licensing arrangement).

SECRETS OF THE LOST TOMB

Chris and I just finished up discussing the arrangement between Doublesix and Secrets of the Lost Tomb.  We will produce the custom color of his choice (likely marble emerald with gold paint).  He will pay roughly 10 cents a dice, and I will pay-out 10% of profits from selling the Secrets of the Lost Tomb dice here.  This will also light a fire under me as we are hoping to get some of these dice actually added to his boxed games when they ship (as bonus dice, on top of offering add-ons).

Check out the Secrets of the Lost Tomb Kickstarter here.  It ends Tuesday, Jan 7th, and is currently running at $68K of a $50K goal.

Both of these are great examples of cross-promotion and synergy.  Another beauty of Kickstarter.  Please check them out.

Yeah thanks for all the info. Really thinking about it now.

Thanks to Criswell and Bobby on getting us more info. Keep in mind that 66 will be 19 mm.

JKP, My answer from Bobby is that the standard boxes, 1,3,4,5,6,7 hold about 40 18mm dice, so for a BULK pack of just under 80, 2 boxes would be sufficient.

    4. Criswell The Tiny Epic Weatherman on

With stretch goal freebies included, BULK is looking to be close to 80 dice now. I have a related question, JKP, and I posed both mine and yours to Bobby, and asked him to answer here. Mine, based on yours was:
      .
If I'm assuming 18mm dodecs for DoubleSix Dice, about how many would you estimate would fit single layer in a standard box?

Can someone smarter than me who has already figured it out please tell me what Dice Bit box(es) I would need if I'm doing the BULK dice option? :) All this cross stuff confused me. And I'm not drunk.

Actually, the description of #8 says it is NOT for large numbers of dice, but for Agricola parts. Bobby says leaving off the dividing walls does not degrade the integrity, but they are used to keep the lid aligned, so are better off included. In that case, I'm getting a #6 which has one central dividing wall.

twirdman, I have hunted down the info you need. Box style 2 is called small at 160mm x 90mm x 39.5mm high (6.29″ x 3.54″ x 1.55″ high). Box 8 is called tall at 215mm x 90mm x 49mm high (8.46″ x 3.54″ x 1.92″ high). All the other boxes, styles 1,3,4,5,6,and 7 are 215mm x 90mm x 39.5mm high (8.46″ x 3.54″ x 1.55″ high) with the difference being how the chambers are set up. I'm getting a tall, and likely leaving off the inner chamber dividing walls, assuming that doesn't degrade the box's structure. I'm awaiting to hear from Bobby on that.

Hi everyone, Bobby from Go7 Gaming here. I just wanted to let everyone know that I understand the pain of international shipping. Matt has a winner here in that he is shipping very small components. Our standard non-U.S./Canadian shipping fee is $50 and that has us eating a portion of the shipping.

In the case of the bit boxes, international pledges can pledge the SMALL INTERNATIONAL PACKAGE and we can fit up to 3 bit boxes in that package. The shipping for that package is $25 (as apposed to $50). We will capture your preferred models during the post-campaign survey. We are working on more affordable international shipping for 2014, but these newer options will not be in place until mid-year 2014.

Thanks for your support and have a great holiday season!

@Matt are the marble emerald with gold paint dice going to be available for us as well? They sound nice...

    10. Marcelo Volcato on

@DWM You're probably right. But that's clearly an oversight. These boxes should also be available on a smaller size. How big does a dice box really needs to be, anyway?

    11. Dice4hire on

My guess for the 50 bucks is the boxes are too big to fit in standard mailers.

    12. Dice4hire on

Yeah, 50 dollars international is just plain not gonna happen. The boxes look nice, and the partnership is great, but I can buy tons of plastic boxes for 50 bucks over here.

    13. Marcelo Volcato on

Nice box, but at $50.00 international shipping I will not pledge, sorry.

    14. Nathan Ramsey on

Twirdman, from what I gathered, it was the size of their bitbox in the other kickstarter.

    15. Twirdman on

Sorry if I just missed this but do you know how big the dice box is. I read both updates and I didn't see size mentioned

I got to the part about international shipping being $50 and just shut down. Not a chance.

    17. Criswell The Tiny Epic Weatherman on

I asked Bobby about the numbers. If the first one is $12, and each additional is $8, why are 3 at $29 and not $28? And why do I feel I need to solve the puzzle of three guys in a hotel room and the belhop collects $5 but keeps $2 for himself?
      .
Bobby didn't answer the second part of my question, but he did explain that for 1 or 2 boxes he uses USPS, and for 3 or more UPS.

    18. Elaura Nevares on

@Matt: Gotcha! I see that now. Thanks :)

    19. Matt Fleming Creator on

@Elaura: i have had a cup, so I think I am pretty awake, and it looks like $12 for the box, but $8 if you add it on (on top of another order).
      .
@Rick: and i imagine gold on green is ok. glad you are excited :)

    20. Elaura Nevares on

(Warning: I haven't had my coffee yet, so forgive me if this question is obvious to others.) Why are the bit boxes being sold for $8 on that kickstarter but you're telling us $12?

    21. Rick Bledsoe on

As Green is my favorite color (mainly because its one of the actual colors I can see in its true form) I WANT THE GREEN-EMERALD DICE!!!

    22. Matt Fleming Creator on

      @Kyle: great!
      .
@Niz: whoa, that is a lot. I will talk to him and see if there are other options (maybe I can try to bundle an order).
      ,
      @Demian: thanks!

    23. Demian Walendorff on

WOW man. You are really mastering kickstarter here.

    24. Nizaamodien Nox Abdool on

Love the dice boxes....but $50 worldwide shipping! I am sad I cant afford this.

      Pledged for the 3 pack!
