About this project
Vers makes it so people can freestyle.
Vers is a freestyle rap card game. The players compete against each other to see which can create the best freestyle rap, but it uses a template system that makes it accessible to anyone. You can rap with it and it's fun for your parties and events.
This Kickstarter is to fund the first round of product and get the full game printed for people to buy. That's the cards, box, and instructions.
Founded by Jerry Spatch, a Boston Freestyle Rapper and a current entrepreneurship student at Northeastern University. Spatch Games is a winner of Northeastern's Husky Start-up Challenge and was featured in Bostinno magazine as an up-and-coming start-up. Vers: The Rap Game is a product of Spatch Games.
Vers was created to break down what you know about rapping and make it for people everywhere.
"I was tired of people in university saying I shouldn't rap because it was unprofessional. Everywhere I went, when people heard about rap they'd think of a bunch of things that it wasn't. So I made the game and it's fun and silly and everyone can play it."
Vers is a freestyle rap based card game that makes it so the players can rap personally and accessibly. The game features 400 category and base rhyme cards, and the players freestyle with the combined concepts.
With the template system you can create your own freestyle raps. All ages, all genders, and all demographics. If you can read this, you can rap with Vers.
Spatch Games cooked up some premium ingredients with Vers. Glossed cardboard, custom-made marbling, and a character on top.
Cards feature these designs and are in full color. Dolphins, cats and primarily anything else you would think is fun. The full game has 400 cards.
This Kickstarter campaign is to fund the first production run of Vers.
Done:
- The graphic designs
- All of the card content
- The rules are set and have been extensively tested
- Manufacturing is lined up and ready to go
- Fulfillment is set-up.
- Intellectual property - We're protected.
What's next:
- Getting the funds from backers
- Manufacturing it through the logistics we've worked out
- Shipping it to your doorstep
We got everything set-up for you before we launched the Kickstarter to make the process as seamless as possible. Once we get the funds we'll start manufacturing right away.
We're also producing a bunch of content to get you involved every step of the way (videos, pictures, content votes and raps).
This is the timeline that we've worked out. If delays occur you will be notified. This is a transparent campaign.

THERE'S A FULL PRINT & PLAY OF THE GAME AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE SPATCHGAMES.COM. CHECK IT OUT IF YOU WANT TO PLAY RIGHT NOW!
The Time Capsule Project:
The Time Capsule Project works like this. Each backer is going to send a personal and confidential message to Spatch Games. Spatch Games is then going to encrypt that message (using a cipher that will only be disclosed to Jerry Spatch and one other person).
We're then going to hide your messages away in a time capsule. In ten years we're going to make a video where we read the messages to the world. No limitation and it can be anything you want. We figured this would be a lot of fun. The location will stay hidden and the messages will stay encrypted for the ten years
The Grand Kickstarter Montage:
A massive montage of every backer rapping a few lines with Vers. It should be pretty sick, honestly. We'll post the video on the website and promote it for people to see (people can opt out and still get their name in the credits, but you should probably join).
The Check in the Mail:
The check in the mail is a check made by Jerry Spatch on a piece of paper that will be mailed to you. ($0.00 USD value).
Shipping
- Shipping is free for the entire United States.
- People in other countries not listed should email whales@spatchgames.com with where they're generally located. We'll work it out.
How to play
Risks and challenges
We made sure we had all the pieces ready before we started the Kickstarter so we could get the game to you as quickly as possible. Intellectual property, designs, content, manufacturing, and fulfillment are all ready to go Spatch Games and Jerry Spatch connected with multiple people who have run successful Kickstarter campaigns and we are prepared for a variety of circumstances.
The most foreseeable delay is the game being held at it's incoming port from our Chinese manufacturer (as is somewhat common with oversees shipping) but we'll clearly communicate it if this is happens to be the case.
Any delays that do occur will be very clearly communicated and our goal is to make this launch as fun and straightforward as it can possibly be. We believe we can get you this game and we've got a plan for every situation we can foresee.
