Update #12

Being a backer: The gift that keeps on giving.

Comment

It has been nigh on nine months, since you have helped me with my Kickstarter campaign. And I continue to do exhibitions with the prints that you helped me print and mount and do book signings with the books.

Out here in the Desert, the season normally runs from October through end of April, early May before it starts getting way too hot and most people leave when they can or become a/c huggers and live indoors. It is true what they say about frying an egg on the concrete. So a lot of different things are happening in April all around the valleys and I am happy to be part of a couple of these events.

The first weekend is the Indian Wells Arts Festival. It runs from Friday, 5th April to Sunday, the 7th 10am-5pm and is located at the Tennis Gardens in Indian Wells. It is quite the prestigious art event and I am very happy that I was asked to join. They will have an exhibit which will focus on the, surprise, Salton Sea, and there will be other artists as well.

Starting 17th May, 2013 through mid-September, 2013, I will be showing at the La Quinta Museum in La Quinta alongside other Salton Sea artifacts and old photographs (see, this exhibitions is indoors). The reception will be on the 17th, though the time has not yet been confirmed. Previously in 2010, I had an exhibition there, showcasing photographs taken between 2008 and 2009.

La Quinta Museum, 77-885 Avenida Montezuma, La Quinta, CA 92253

Of course being so far away as most of you are, I can only assume you won't be able to come out. Please do pass on to anyone you know who lives in the area.

During the coming summer months when things will start to quiet down a bit, I will be looking for exhibition spaces further afield, i.e. all over the US and worldwide and getting in touch with galleries/museums that match my vision of showcasing environmental photography. If you have any recommendations for galleries or museums or alternative spaces, please do get in touch. I also am continuously on the look out for independent book shops to visit and do book signings for, or any organisation that may be interested in a presentation about this project or any aspect thereof.

I wish you all the best and thank you again for supporting me in my endeavor!

Happy almost April Fools Day to you.

Christina

Update #11

"Portraits and Voices of the Salton Sea" Book and Exhibition

Dear all,

Happy almost Christmas! May you spend an enjoyable and peaceful time with friends, family and loved ones, preferably around a warming fire.

I would like to share with you what your gracious donations have allowed me to do. One the one hand:

and on the other: the exhibition's current resting place:

More book reading/signings are coming up in the new year along with more shows featuring those very prints and the book that you funded. Currenlty, I have shows booked up until September 2013 and am looking for more galleries, museum spaces to expand the show.

Please accept my heartfelt thanks. And all the best for the holidays and may you ring in a Happy happy New Year.

Christina

P.s. if you would like to read up on the book reading I recently did in Del Mar and the opening night of the exhibition in Palm Desert, please visit:

112 degrees fahrenheit outside. That is 44.4 degrees celsius. I was hoping to get started on doing the Charleston Video, but I shall have to await cooler days. The lowest temperature is has been thus far has been 85 degrees (29.4C). In the middle of the night. It is, after all, the desert.

Good news. With exception of the video, all rewards have been made up and sent off! Thank you all again so much, all of you who have backed my campaign. You have my complete gratitude and huge thanks and I will throw in several massive bear hugs as well.
