Composer, Arranger and French Hornist Jeff Scott is getting ready to record a CD of all original music. But it can’t happen without you!
For a long time I have wanted to make a recording of my own music. Classical music that has no cultural boundaries and speaks to anyone that recognizes the drum beat of the urban existence. I am ready to make that recording. I have the scores, a Grammy Award winning engineer in Silas Brown, an amazing collective of musicians…
All I need is the funding. And your help.
Amazon.com Review: "A bright new work by hornist Jeff Scott...recalls Ibert, Poulenc, jazz, a dab of Copland, and a hefty dose of originality".
You can find me touring and writing for Imani Winds 10 months out of the year. However, the seeds of composition were planted long before in a hip NY based brass band called "No No Nonet", with a heavy influence from composers like Glen Makos and Rob Susman, I got my first classical commission in 2005 from Madelon and John Grobman of NYC, a piece entitled "Un Abrazo Para Sharon" and the bug has been with me ever since!
The recording I want to make is deeply personal. The music will be drawn from a collection of commissioned works premiered August 1, 2012 at Advent Lutheran Church, NY. It was my first composer concert and was a huge triumph! The pieces are varied style, texture and ensemble size. From a duo of bassoon and piano to a 30 piece ensemble including a Latin Jazz rhythm section! The music is a carpet ride!
$15,000 is actually the bare minimum to make a studio album like this.
- Studio Rental
- Producing Fees
- Musician Fees
- Mixing & Mastering
AND THAT’S NOT ALL. Every cent you pledge will go toward the making of this recording. If we can raise more than our goal, it will go toward marketing and promotion.
The recording industry has changed dramatically. The usual sources of financing, such as record labels, don’t exist in the same way anymore. Kickstarter offers the unique opportunity for friends, family and fans to be involved in this exciting creative process. In exchange for your pledge I am offering all sorts of rewards including the chance to visit us in the studio during a recording session, or tickets to the next "The Music of Jeff Scott" concert in NYC, or VIP passes to the CD release celebration which includes a backstage meet and greet and much more.
I hope you will consider becoming a backer, it would mean so much to me.
Risks and challenges
As I said above, it is hard to get financing for recording project these days. Then there is the time frame. We need the funds by September when we begin the long rehearsal and recording process with so many musicians to coordinate. In order to do that, we need to reach EVERYONE who might be interested in participating.
YOU CAN HELP! Tell your friends, post the link on your facebook page, or tweet about it.
And again THANK YOU!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
