My name is Craig Kinsey, and I am making the kind of album no one has ever tried before...
We have brought together America’s real roots… starting with today’s indie and punk rock and going WAY back. Through blues and gospel foot-stomping, through the sounds of the machine, through the rural town singing only for themselves captured by Smithsonian Folkways recordings, back across the ocean, and further back in history to the roots of our ideas in ancient Greece.
Dude, it’s a ride. There’s rock and roll, there’s naked blues, there’s apocalyptic choirs. There’s the township chanting just at the edge of our awareness. There’s a blaring 1920s horn section. South of the border cantina song...
And we need your help to finish it.
Where do you come in?
Your entrance is after the second chorus – you have a big solo. You see, it’s all been written. About 70% Tracked. About 50% Mixed. And like a down-and-out Old West shootout on the outskirts of town, we are out of bullets. We need your help to finish the tracking, mixing, mastering, and printing. It’s like having the railroad cars but not the track. We need you to be our musical Rockefellers and help us complete this grand thing.
Who are we?
Craig Kinsey is a song writer and performer that rode Ray Price's old tour bus along with John Evans and Hayes Carll to play your town. He preceded Snoop Dog and the Flaming Lips on the 2012 FPSF Festival main stage with his alter-ego band, the Sideshow Tramps. He lives in the Montrose area of Houston, Texas (named one of NYT 10 hippest neighborhoods) in a 1920s craftsman style oddity with a turret attached. His picture was in Paste Magazine in June. He played Texas Music Magazine’s music fest in July. Help make August and September the months to finish the new record!
