About this project
This kickstarter project is about bringing to reality the seemingly impossible. Dane Rauschenberg is already known for running 52 Marathons in 52 weekends but when he announced he would be taking on a solo running of the 202 mile American Odyssey Relay, it seemed out of the realm of possibility. Normally reserved for teams of 6-12 runners, The 202 mile relay race can take groups of well-rested people up to 36 Hours to complete. Dane not only completed the task but did it in the astonishing time of just over 50 hours.
Both of Dane's books (See Dane Run and 138,336 Feet to Pure Bliss) have already inspired others and his wit and charm in interacting with his fellow runners have had them clamoring for a more personal look into what one of his endeavors looks like. This film does just that as it takes viewers on the roller coaster ride of emotion, physicality and humor of doing something which had never been done before.
Dane has done the hard part by taking on 202 miles of running from Gettysburg, PA to Washington, D.C. This film needs to be completed to show others how they too can chase their own impossible dreams.
Instead of allowing the movie to become formulaic and scripted with too much schmaltz, the gritty realism is left in the hands of the directors who will garner support from the thousands of runners out there looking to fix
their running jones with a tale of amazement.
What do you get?
Even the smallest will receive some personalized attention. But as can be seen in the rewards section, the plethora of gifts for helping make this film a reality are more than enticing.
Other questions you might have:
If you have any other questions about this campaign - how it works, questions about the gifts, etc., please do not hesitate to contact Dane here or his website: SeeDaneRun.com
With the project already funded over 20%, fans of people pushing the boundaries have shown they want to see a film such as this come to the screen. We are beyond excited to see this response and will look forward to more exciting developments as the funds roll in!
Risks and challenges
The biggest risks have already been undertaken by Dane. He put his body and soul on the line to try to see what it could do under extreme distress. The film itself has gone through many different hands as it seeks to find the right partners to fully bring forth the extreme nature of what it takes to run for 50 hours straight.
Now with the project all but in the can, there is almost no risk of the project hitting the screens. Its premiere will be in in Dane's town of Portland, OR with talks for Boise, ID and Salt Lake City to be next.
