IT IS THE ONE PILLOW THAT ALL ADVENTURERS SHOULD HAVE
You shouldn’t have to suffer with an inferior pillow while on an adventure, nor should traveling with your favorite pillow be a chore.
As the inventor of the Fresh Air Pillow (The World’s Most Washable Pillow), we loved bringing our Fresh Air Pillows on vacation and camping. But, even as washable as they are, they were not as portable as I wished and were always a mess by the second or third day. The vision of a better camping pillow came to me while I was developing a compact packaging for the original white cotton blend “Fresh Air Pillow”. After a number of trial and errors, the “Adventure Pillow” was born.
THE ADVENTURE PILLOW COMPACTS EASILY AND IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE AND WASHABLE TRAVEL PILLOW AROUND:
Its full size allows you the comfort of your home pillow and the soft cozy, water resistant fabric, means you’ll have a dryer pillow, even with all of the moisture and dirt that comes with a camping trip. These features, along with our “patent pending” for comfort and wash ability, bring this pillow to a whole new level of adventure.
MADE RIGHT HERE IN THE USA:
We did it here for several reasons. We want to keep jobs at home, but most important, we know we can make a better product at a competitive price. We’re now doing it, one pillow at a time
Totally Breathable and Water resistant
Remember the Summit Pillow is 20" x 14"
The layers are seperated to maintain thorough cleaning in the washing machines. The mesh allows water and air to flow through easily.
The pillow fits perfectly into any standard size pillow case, or go natural...the fabric is refreshingly cool.
Side by side of the 17 x 13" Alpine and the Full size 23 x 17.5" Adventure I
(The white cotton blend is a 50/50 blend of cotton/poly that is amazingly breathable and does not shrink, but is not water resistant. It is designed more for the hotel travelers).

Risks and challenges
WE FACED CHALLENGES BEFORE AND PREVAILED
We successfully launched the Fresh Air Pillow on Kickstarter in July of last year with many, many more challenges than we now have. We did not have anything more than good working prototypes and no proven production. In fact, we had over a dozen points of location for material manufacturers, specially designed fabric and foam that had only been made in samples by the production plant. We could only estimate our costs, which, as it turned out, exceeded our estimates a large number. Yet, we prevailed. We produced the Fresh Air Pillow with a few manufacturing delays and have had an overwhelming amount of praise from our backers after they have used it.
CAN WE DO BETTER!? MUCH!!
PRODUCTION AND FULFILLMENT PLAN:
After Kickstarter with the Fresh Air Pillow, we redesigned the product to be more durable in washing agitators, less complicated to manufacture and redefined our sources for all of our material. Further, all of the materials we are using for the Adventure Series is currently in production. We already have some of the lots from the Fresh Air Pillow. We have now proven we can produce with the Fresh Air Pillow and are ready to go to work to get this product produced. We have produced over 400 Fresh Air Pillows and close to 100 samples of the new Adventure Pillow. We’ve gotten it just right, we have all our partnerships in place and we understand our costs and timelines to the pennies and minutes.
Step 1: Hit our Kickstarter target goal of $12,000. This works out to about 200 pillows in rewards. The Fresh Air Pillow was 250.
Step 2. We already have our mesh fabric and white cotton blend in our warehouse ready to go for hundreds of theTraveler Adventure Pillow. We will start cutting these for sewing even before the campaign ends. Our cost of this material here is $3/ unit for the Adventure Pillow. Cost for 200 pillows - $600.
Step 3. We will need to purchase the breathable, water resistant Supplex nylon in minimum 150 Yard rolls -$975 each roll for reduced pricing. Each roll makes 200 pillows and we will need one for Blue and one for Green. Cost - $1950.00
200 rip stop nylon case material and parts - $350.00
Step 4. We have several thousand yards of our foam at our Indiana partners and they will be elated for us to get the Adventure Pillow in action. At our current width of 30” by .5” thick, we will need about 6 ft./ per unit of this die cut and shipped to us to assure we have plenty for at least 200 pillows. We can get plenty more if we surpass our goal. Minimum cost for 200 - $1600
Step 5. Cut fabric for sewing shop. I have all of the cutters and rollers from the Fresh Air Pillow completely ready to go. The moment it looks even close to getting funded, I will have the nylon mesh cut and ready for our sewing shop. Cost - $600
Step 6. We will use the Kickstarter funds to purchase the exterior foam locally and should not have any real delays unless we get ten times the amount…but that problem is only good. Cost for 200 - $600
Labor to put together 200 pillows with cases: $1600
Priority 3 Day shipping/pack to each home: $2470
Supplex water resistant Nylon $1950
Rip Stop waterproof Nylon and parts $350
Die cut foam (inner core) $1600
Foam out layers $600
Kickstarter and Amazon fees (8 to 9%) $900
Total cost of production for 200 units $10,670
In Summary, we should have all of our materials here for sewing within a few weeks after the campaign ends. Our sewing production will take place while we are waiting for the die cut foam to be shipped. Once we receive the die cut foam (about June 15), we should be ready to stuff the cases and close them. The final step to fulfillment is simply packaging and shipping. I would like to see these in every ones hands for their 4th of July Adventures.
WE STILL FACE CHALLENGES:
Any new project faces new challenges and Fresh Air Products is no stranger to challenges. I personally believe this is the best camping and travel pillow line on earth and I’m betting the farm (I hocked my ant farm). I have invested heavily into the patents and Trademarks.
We still face the challenge of delivery time. We feel we have an excellent handle on this now, but manufacturing delays can occur. Our biggest challenge is to get this into the kickstarters hands in time to enjoy this summer’s camping. We actually believe we could deliver these before our timelines, but do not want to underestimate this.
WHY THE MINIMUM GOAL OF $12000
First, 200 pillows will allow me to purchase the minimum fabric and materials I need to make production at a reasonable cost for resale. I have been paying out the nose for samples. It is extremely difficult for my sewing shop to set up for one or two pillows, but 200 or more flows beautifully and lowers the costs substantially.
This amount will also helps prove the products viability and will act as a proof of concept for my goal of retail stores. This is the perfect product for our company to revel around and produce competitively. The Fresh Air Pillow was a challenge and we have had a difficult time to price it competitively for market. The Adventure Pillow works amazing with our local sewing shops and the fabrics we use. I have never been so excited about bringing a pillow to market as much as I am about the Adventure Pillow. Maybe I just aim to be an adventurer, or perhaps it's the thought of my sons dirty feet on my pillow for the entire 5 hour trip to the camp.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
