GreaterPlaces and DoTankDC are dedicated to bringing urban planning & community design to the people. But planning is hard and technical and full of jargon and math.

Like Apples to Apples & Cards Against Humanity*, the game decks have question and answer cards. Players take turns judging a question round; he or she picks a card with a question about cities and neighborhoods.  Players then try to appeal to the judge by throwing down answer cards from their hand.  It’s just like how real city planning happens!

Launching September 17, 2014 in Washington DC, our Kickstarter project:

  • Solves a big chunk of your holiday shopping for that architect, planner, engineer, game enthusiast, Realtor, real estate developer, or city-lover in your life.
  • See those Facebook and Twitter share buttons?  Hit them now.

What are the reward tiers?

What does money go to?

Funds cover the costs of designing, marketing and producing the swag (50%), shipping & storage (40%), and Kickstarter and Amazon fees (10%). We are constantly trying to drive down the costs, so any profits will be invested back into the Cards project and citizen planning.

Risks and challenges

There are risks:
1) We are not as funny as we think we are.
2) Production - we are working with top notch firms that have experience in Kickstarter projects and guiding first-timers. However, there may be production interruptions beyond our control.
3) Shipping in time for Christmas - we are busting our arses to get this out in time for the gift-giving holidays. But so is everyone else.
4) Funding - If we don't meet the target - nothing happens and neighborhoods everywhere decline into a bankrupt, weed-infested, post-apocalyptic ghost town because NOBODY cares. We don't hit $7500 = No Cards Against Urbanity.
