The Scots are famous storytellers and legend surrounds every castle, loch and glen. Edinburgh, Scotland is home to THE world's largest theater festival and we have been invited to participate and become part of Scottish Legend!
This August we'll be sharing two moving American stories with the world and depart Scotland with another great one to tell to you!
Both shows entertain and challenge audiences in ways that are unique and unforgettable. Flying Solo is bringing together the work of directors Melissa Firlit and Karla Knudsen to share a stage on the world's greatest platform for creative freedom - the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Dennis Elkins will be performing his solo show box., an enticing strip-tease of revelations. This poignant and funny solo performance exposes the unmapped turns, deliberate shifts, blind alleys and devastating dead-ends of one man’s struggle to traverse the toll-road to middle age... in a box. While balancing a dark core of loss and grief, exuberant humor brightens this story of holding on and letting go...or not.
Craig MacArthur Dolezel will be performing Marrow by Brian Quirk. Marrow places the audience into the hallucinogenic and feverish mind of a physically traumatized dancer who is struggling to make sense of his horrific brutalization and the aftermath that follows as the question is asked: what is hate? It is a visceral and poetic condemnation of LGBTQ violence and an homage to the countless queer artists who have made a positive impact on the world we know and love.
We are fortunate enough to have been invited to perform at theSpace @ Surgeons' Hall.
With a reputation for offering one of the Festival's most diverse cross-genre programs, it’s ultimately one of the Festival's busiest venues and a must for all seasoned theatre goers. Located on Nicholson Street, a minutes' walk from the Royal Mile, opposite the Festival Theatre and yards from Bristo Square, the venue sits in its own buzzing courtyard - a location you dare not miss during the 21-day festival.
TAKE A PEAK AT THE FRINGE:
HELP US SOAR:
We have been working hard to bring these performances to a production level that will proudly represent the United States on an international stage, but now we need your help! We need to raise the money needed to take the critical and literal leap across the pond.
*NEWS* Kickstarter usually takes a 5% fee of all campaigns launched on their platform. For this campaign, Kickstarter will be donating their portion of the profits to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Headquarters!
This ambitious project can only succeed with your contributions and the collaboration of an incredible team of artists; Production Manager/Event Producer Penny Cole; Sound Designer and Composers Matthew Bittner and Robert Hornbostel; Lighting Design Consultant Elaine Wong; and Stage Manager Monique Cuyler. Making these things happen in Edinburgh, Craig and Dennis will be joined by Penny and Monique—the four of us (and you, if you want to join us) will mount an on-the-ground campaign to bring world-wide recognition to our work.
Thank you for all that you can do,
Dennis and Craig
Risks and challenges
They say "anything can happen in the theatre." This show must go on, but without Kickstarter funds, we will have a much harder time reaching audiences. The funds from our Kickstarter campaign will make help make these American plays an international success. Whatever happens, it will all be documented as part of the story we share with YOU.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
