Speak No Evil is a story about two teenage brothers, Silas and Edwin, and how they fight monsters from another dimension!
In issue one, we saw H.P. Lovecraft and Nikola Tesla's otherworldly experiment go horribly wrong, and we followed the boys as they evaded the Murphy gang and made their way to Tesla's cabin.
In issue two, Nix and his gang caught up to the brothers, and were forced to deal with the horror that is Aathemon. We also met our female protagonist, Effie!
Issue three continues the fight against Aathemon, and also takes a look back at how Nix and Louis became the leaders of the Murphy gang. That storyline parallels what the boys are going through and foreshadows what is to come!
This issue is full of action, horror, and quick-witted dialogue. We feel confident that you will love it!
The Speak No Evil team is back again! Check out their Bios below!
Justin Corbett is one of the writers of Speak No Evil, as well as a co-owner of Gray Bear Comics with George Tripsas. He is the host of Mindfudge Comedy Podcast, and also a reviewer of horror movies at HorrorGeekLife.com!
George Tripsas has been writing screenplays since he was a kid, and only recently decided to transfer those writing skills to the comic book medium. He is a lifelong comic book fan, and a huge cinephile. George is also a podcaster and cohosts Mindfudge Comedy Podcast, as well as The Metal Geeks Podcast. It was through podcasting that he met his writing partner Justin, and formed Gray Bear Comics. George also lives in Houston.
Samir Simão is a comic book penciller and inker from Brazil. He has four years of experience as a professional comic book artist, and has been published in over twenty books. His specialty is independent comics, with a focus on producing pitches and creating successful Kickstarter campaigns.
Chunlin Zhao is a pro colorist and artist from China. She has been working professionally since 2012, and has worked on projects such as AA Squad, SHOGUN KNIGHT DYSON V, The Wretches, and Speak Up Chuck - our ongoing story in the back of each issue of Speak No Evil!
Ben Kreger is our letterer. He has been working professionally since 2009 and has published nearly twenty comics. His business offers publishing, graphic design, and marketing solutions to a variety of clients. His dream is to write his own comics and to accept submissions to his own imprint, Warrior Innkeeper Comics, so that he may one day help publish other awesome creators as well. Kreger lives in Independence, Oregon with his wife, four children, and his fat tuxedo cat, Thor.
We'd also like to give a special thanks to Meredith Nudo for her help editing the book.
The Speak No Evil team believes in 100% transparency when it comes to how your money will be spent. Any money raised via Kickstarter will be spent on production, publishing, or rewards. Our third issue will be 24 pages of content, and an additional 2 pages to thank our supporters.
Here's a breakdown of our costs:
Amazon 10%: $500
Any additional funding over our goal will go towards the production of future issues. We will (hopefully) also be unveiling some awesome stretch goals along the way!
Our long term plan is to publish digitally, while traveling the convention circuit with physical copies to grow our audience and ideally to get picked up by a publisher.
We have a lot of great rewards for this Kickstarter, but one of the most unique ones is a "Director's Cut" version of issue one. We funded our original issue one through Kickstarter, and we love it, but it does have a few areas that we felt could be improved upon. We hope you'll enjoy this new version, including this incredible new cover, and if you were a previous backer we'll be sending you the digital version of the director's cut for free!
The three images below are the options for the 11x17 prints for this Kickstarter!
We have had so many requests for another logo T-shirt, and since we're doing a new version of issue one, it feels like the right time to offer it up again!
To add-on to your pledge, follow these steps:
- Press the Manage Your Pledge Button. If you have not pledged yet it will say Back this Project.
- Increase your pledge in the Pledge Amount box by the total of the add-ons you want to add. Do not change the tier you are currently pledged at, unless you also want to change it while you are on this screen. You will then need to add the total of your add-ons onto the amount of the tier you have just chosen.
- If you are an international backer, please remember to add $15 for shipping.
- After the end of the Kickstarter campaign you will receive a survey that will ask you questions so that you can explain how you would like the add-on money assigned.

We have some AWESOME stretch goals planned for this campaign. Once we get funded, the first one will become available!
Risks and challenges
As with any project dealing with collaborators, there is a possibility of it taking longer than desired. That is what happened with issue two-The rewards were not available until late February, and although they have all been shipped by now, they may not have been received by the time this launches.
We already have the first five pages of the book done, but we are building in a little extra time in case delays happen again. We are expecting to be finished with everything by August, and have the book to you by September.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
