Mercury Falls is the dynamic musical force that was first created by Patrick Cress in 2006 when he released its first album which featured Ryan Francesconi and Tim Bulkley. The first release gained an incredible amount of momentum for a small indie band, and soon the group was performing in Festivals and venues up and down the West Coast.
In the years since, new voices have joined the group: singer/songwriter Michelle Amador vocalist, and guitarist Roger Riedlbauer. This year, MF adds a third new voice: Sam Bevan on bass. Mercury Falls recently performed at the Switchboard Festival in San Francisco. It was there that we all realized something new had evolved in the music, and that it was imperative that we document and share this new sound that has been created.
As a group, we are at an incredible turning point. We are bubbling at the seams with new material. Our sound, in contrast to the first album, has taken a quantum shift from ambient to bold, dark, moody, and galactic! We now need help from the community to professionally record our next release. With your help, this music will be recorded on August 1 and 2 at Open Path Studios, professionally mixed and mastered, pressed to CD, professionally promoted by a publicist, and released in January 2013. This new recording will also serve as an important tool for getting the band on the road and touring.
We all share passion and excitement for the music Mercury Falls is creating. We're developing an amazing sound and it is our dream to be able to finally share this sound with a broad public.
Kickstarter provides us with an avenue to achieve this dream in a way that would simply be impossible for us as individuals. We hope you can help us reach our goal with a gift in any amount to help make this recording a reality.
Thank you so much to old friends who have supported the group for years, and new ones just discovering us and our project for the first time.
