Hands-on Reviews / Water Resistance Update

Wanted to provide some links to some great coverage Leikr received today at CES.  We did a great  interview with The Verge at their studio, and also had a walk thru of the product from CNET.

We have also heard loud and clear your questions regarding the level of water resistance of the Leikr device.

Leikr was designed from the beginning to be used in the water. From a technical standpoint we believe our current performance to be at a level of IPX-6 (thus the statement of water resistant). Our goal for this product is to be capable of IPX-8 and are working diligently towards that goal. The main area of focus for us to obtain this level is the gluing process of the front window and back plate. There is a video below which shows our automated robot going thru this process. As we continue to refine this we will begin to see additional improvements in water resistance so that users can feel comfortable using their Leikr in extreme conditions both on land and in water.

For some details regarding the IPX specification please refer to this link.

IPX8 is a big plus, with number of lengths, stroke count and swimming style information this will definitely make it to the swimming pool. Definitely part of my buying decision.
Plus friends have found some of the GPS cycle computers don't fare well in heavy rain, this definitely won't have that problem.

Way to go! This IPX-8 goal was the final twist that made me click the Pledge button :)

As a triathlete IPX8 means this is my complete training and race watch.
A lot of great thought has gone into this product. Great looking watch as well. A major plus.

IPX8 would be the icing on the cake for me..........

IPX8 would be kickass, then I could take it without a problem during rowing tours (some of them are quite long (up to 100KM) so the maps would help me a lot with finding the route). Thumbsup for you guys!
