For almost a decade and a half now, I've been writing stories about the Cliff's End Castle Guard, starting in 2004 with Dragon Precinct, and continuing in four more novels and fifteen short stories, with two more novels and a bunch more short stories still to come. (And for those of you who Kickstarted Mermaid Precinct, that is still in progress, and should be done in the next few weeks, with the book itself ready some time after that. You'll be seeing more in-progress chapters this week.)
One of those stories I did via Kickstarter, entitled "Gan Brightblade vs. Mitos the Mighty." The response to that story -- which didn't actually include any members of the Cliff's End Castle Guard -- was strong enough that I've wanted to write some more stories that look at the greater world of Flingaria beyond Cliff's End and the cops who maintain law and order therein.
To that end, I've written a story called "The Fall of Iaron." It tells a story of the history of Flingaria, in particular a battle that took place in Iaron, one of the other human city-states that's is allied with Cliff's End under the rule of King Marcus and Queen Marta.
"The Fall of Iaron" is about history, about storytelling, about political machinations, and about what makes a hero and what makes a tyrant and what makes a villain. I'm quite pleased with it, and I hope you'll enjoy it, too.
The story is already written, and the only changes still to be made to it are the names of up to ten of characters in the story who will be renamed based on who pledges at the $65 level. Aside from that -- and adding the acknowledgments to include all you kind folks who pledge -- the story is done and edited, so as soon as the project is funded, I can start sending out the main reward, to wit, the story itself. The eBooks should also go out in relatively short order as well.
If you just want the story itself, it's only two bucks, but there are other nifty rewards at higher levels, including swag, me reading the story, other books of mine, and a new one, offering my editorial services! I've been a professional editor for almost thirty years now, and I'm offering editing of either your short fiction (20,000 words or less) or your novel (100,000 words or less) at a lower rate than my usual.
So please, fund this project, and get a nifty new story in this fun universe I've created.
Risks and challenges
The story's already written, so the risks are minimal. I just hope there's enough interest in the broader spectrum of the world of the "Precinct" books.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
