So why the album?
2015 both killed me and changed me.
I found myself in the story of Jonah when the storm hit. It says ‘the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.’ Like Jonah, I responded initially in denial. But then Jonah confronts reality, takes responsibility and accepts his fate. He says ‘Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great storm is because of me.’
Then came the moment that both killed me and changed me.
The story says it this way…. ’So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea and the sea ceased from it’s raging’.
The man Jonah was died as he was thrown into the sea. The man I was died as I too was thrown into the sea.
This had to happen so that a new Jonah, so that a new me, could emerge out from the whale and into a future planned and purposed by an everlasting God. This is a resurrection story. This is my resurrection story.
Jonah was in the whale 3 days. I was in the whale 3 months.
This album, Into The Sea, are my songs of worship penned during this time.
In the storm, in the sea, in the whale and in the resurrection that was always waiting for me.
These songs are the most authentic, honest and powerful worship songs I’ve ever written. This will be my best work.
Help me make Into The Sea something tangible, something real, something that makes you sit back in your chair and go… “wow’.
**I'll be producing the album with Chris Collins over the 2015/2016 New Year break. We're going for a Civil Wars vibe this time round. I worked with Chris on my last record, Indie Hymnal.
Risks and challenges
The only thing that could potentially go wrong is if I need to re-schedule the studio time, which would only delay the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
