About Art on Track
Art on Track is a mobile art gallery on board a six-car CTA train. Each train car is given over, for free, to a different local artist or arts group to curate. The public is invited to board the train and view the artwork.

Once aboard the train, passengers in the gallery are encouraged to explore and engage with the artists and artwork. The train will circle the "Loop" elevated track in downtown Chicago, making stops for people to switch between train cars at the Adams/Wabash (the main entrance), Washington/Wells, Quincy/Wells, and Randolph/Wabash train stations.
Art on Track will be celebrating its 5th year on Saturday, September 22nd
5-10pm.
Why This Show is Important
Art on Track is free for artists to apply because we want this venue to be accessible to anyone with a great idea. Everyone can apply and we specifically target artists we find to be brilliant but under-represented. That is not to say you cant be an established artist to participate. We like to mix it up so that people who are just starting their careers get exposed to working with seasoned veterans of the art world. The critical mass of media attention and public participation that AoT brings to its artists has helped many find jobs or make career deciding connections as a result of participation. Our desire is to shape AoT as a platform that puts the artists first.
Who goes to Art on Track?
Here are some folks who enjoyed last year's show.

History
Art on Track was created in 2008 by students at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It has run annually ever since. The show was originally created to be an open forum for contemporary artists to exhibit their work in a non traditional setting. It provides a major audience for artists who otherwise might go unknown. The mission has evolved since to include granting for individual artists and alternative venues.
Why Kickstarter?
This Kickstarter campaign is being run to cover the cost of putting Art on Track together. Most of the cost is in renting the CTA train and the rest goes towards helping out the artists in the show. That includes promoting artists, printing postcards, maintaining a website, etc. Your support provides an unbelievable experience for artists and the public alike.
What will I see at Art on Track?
We don't know yet what this year will bring! Below are some images from past shows.
