52 Essential Relationships: what you need to succeed in life
A powerful game developed by Harvard mom to build Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Better communications, stronger relationships.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Fri, February 8 2019 1:39 PM UTC +00:00.
Every interaction counts. We would not be where we are today without the support of parents, teachers, mentors, or friends. And if we're lucky, a combination of all of the above.
In an ideal world, the solid connections that we develop help us discover who we are, guide us toward our aspirations, hook us up with opportunities, and give us the right nudge at the right time to try harder.
Relationships are messy! In reality, the ways we communicate are often tripped up by disconnects, mistrust, second-guessing, bad timing, and misunderstandings.
- Disconnects: how do I hear and be heard?
- Mistrust: where are we going with this?
- Second-guessing: when and how do I ask for help?
- Bad timing: how do I get my point across?
- Misunderstandings: what can I say to resolve conflicts?
How can we replace stress with enjoyment, and fully maximize our relationships?
52 Essential Relationships is a card game that builds Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and communications skills while maximizing everyday relationships.
Hi! I'm Jenny Woo, the creator of 52 Essential Relationships and 52 Essential Conversations. I'm a wife and mom of 3, Harvard-trained educator, podcaster, and educational neuroscience researcher.
Through my research and experience in developing adults in the workplace, to children in the classrooms, to families in the community, I realized that the most important life skills to succeed and thrive in life were neglected in schools and workplaces.

Hi! I'm Jenny Woo, the creator of 52 Essential Relationships and 52 Essential Conversations. I'm also a wife and mom of 3, Harvard-trained educator, podcaster, and educational neuroscience researcher.
I've been developing big and small human beings all my career. I've worked as a Human Capital consultant at Deloitte for Fortune 500 companies, HR Manager in Talent Strategy, Executive Coach in the Silicon Valley, UC Berkeley MBA career coach, university lecturer, Montessori school administrator, and certified fitness trainer.
My mission for children and adults alike: empower people to become self-motivated, inspired, and compassionate citizens of the world.
This unprepared experience left me wondering:
"What are the most life-defining wisdom and memories that I could leave with my children and be in peace, knowing they are set in life?"
With this mission, I dove into the rabbit hole of research in human development, psychology, neuroscience, behavioral science, and management science. I spoke to countless parents, educators, researchers, and professors, and especially those with children. I researched programs that improved children's academic and social success. I also surveyed my fellow successful Harvard peers.
Through my research and my experience in developing adults in the workplace, to children in the classrooms, to families in the community, I realized that the most important life skills to succeed and thrive in life were neglected in schools and workplaces.
I've seen many successful "on paper" people plateau or stall because they did not have a sense of who they were and what they REALLY wanted, had their emotions dictated by external measures, and did not know how to ask for help (i.e. expressing vulnerabilities, delegate).
On the flip side, I've also seen many labeled as "troublemakers" because they did not have a sense of who they were and what they REALLY wanted, had their emotions dictated by external measures, and did not know how to ask for help (i.e. articulating needs, expressing emotions).
In 2018, my first Kickstarter was successfully funded to make 52 Essential Conversations a reality (THANK YOU!!). Since then, the game won 2018 Parents' Choice Awards, presented by Parents' Choice Foundation, the nation's oldest nonprofit dedicated to evaluating children's toys and media.
52 Essential Conversations is now used by parents, teachers, and counselors in all 50 states and 30+ countries.
I've worked hard to develop 52 Essential Relationships through my continual research and conversations with users of 52 Essential Conversations. I believe that the new deck will provide much-needed support and leg-up for children and adults, the successful "on paper" population and the marginalized "troublemakers" alike, to TRULY succeed and thrive in life on their own terms.
Thank you so much for your support!
Peace & love,
