We do realize it could get a bit dangerous and we have given it quite some thought. One of the major security measures we will take is that the app will know whether you are on a street or a highway and will be able to determine the average speed limit in each. If the speed limit is exceeded, a warning will sound and will advice you to slow down. If the user still continues to drive above the speed limit, the application will automatically shut down.
Also, in response to that, you might think "it's ok, I'll just turn it on again", but the application will actually only be able to be turned on when stationary (parked). We are also well aware that the people most likely to take the whole experience too far are teenagers. For that matter, we are going to have the app rated 17+ so that users under 18 with parental control on their devices won't be able to download or use the application. The app is also designed to react to regular safe driving without the need to do anything different in the way one would normally drive and we will make sure to let the users know that. In addition to all of this, we will be making it easy for the user to turn off or turn down the volume of all the sound tracks with the exception of the music (car sound effects, enemy sound effects, voice overs).
Finally, we are considering implementing something that will detect if the user is making drastic moves in the car such as swirving, harsh turns, hard stopping, etc. The app would react the same way as with the speed limit with a warning and eventually shut down.
