Spin with a purpose! The 8Mode LED Spinner features a spinning POV LED display. Shows real-time information such as RPM, Spin Time, Pocket Watch (Clock), Programmable Text, Effects and Games! Programmable "anywhere" features that don't require a computer or cables. The spinner includes a quality enclosure, replaceable batteries, and a stainless steel or optional ceramic bearing.
Press the button to select your mode and spin. Eight lights provide a brilliant display that reports details like RPM speed, clock, Custom user programmable text, spin count and spin time along with games and effects!
* These are examples of the features that will be included in the final design.

User programmable text demo: No cables, No computer, No phone needed. Program text anywhere! This is how it's done:
The idea for this project originally started with Mike, one of the co-founders of 8Mode. Mike often experiences anxiety and discovered that fidget devices help him relax and focus. Mike approached Matt about an idea to add an interactive display. Over the next few months, the team developed the product to the point where they felt it would be a good Kickstarter. We hope that the Kickstarter community will help us further develop our idea and that the funds raised will cover production costs. We are very open to any ideas for what we can do with the display!
Development began with a breadboard prototype concept that helped us choose which components to use and test software for the display. We learned that the device would consume power at low enough levels to provide about 10-15 hours of continuous spinning on 2 standard 2032 coin cell batteries.
Prototype 2 involved creating a printed circuit board. We began working out the firmware and developing the different display modes. It worked very well! Everyone we showed it too was excited, but it was missing a case!
We designed the case and redesigned the circuit board for Prototype 3. We used 3D printing to try different design ideas to arrive at a model that is the perfect size. The enclosure will be made of rugged materials. The top has a scratch resistant polycarbonate lens that provides a clear view of the LED lights and the circuit board. We think it's a design that not only functions very well, but is simplified to be easy to manufacture and assemble.
Matt Dwyer and Mike Cooper are telecommunication engineers who have worked together for over 20 years. In their spare time, Mike and Matt have dreamed about designing and manufacturing a quality retail product that is unique and fun. They bring their experience with electronics, development and customer service to create the 8Mode LED Spinner.
"We are working on this project to bring a fun and innovative spinner to everyone. We ask for your donations and input to make this a reality. We intend all funds to go directly into development and production. We have spent countless hours doing the math, figuring out tooling/design and budgets. We have a solid plan to build and provide a quality product to our backers. We ask for everyone’s feedback during this process. Thank you for your support!"

Risks and challenges
We have really done our homework - the risks should be minimal. However, we are realistic. A possible risk is the timing for the injection mold tooling, but we have indications that our requested dates are reasonable. We understand that updates are important. You shall receive them as we move through the campaign.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
