About this project

We've all asked it before: 'Why don't they open E3 to the public?'.  My question is 'Why don't we?'  If there's enough demand I for one the industry will step up to do its part to support a public event so let's make it happen.

I mean honestly, do you think Microsoft doesn't want to step up to bat again?  Do you think Sony will miss out if Microsoft plans to attend?  Don't you think Nintendo wants gamers to get their hands on the Wii U in the face of lackluster sales.  Want to see Ouya? Oculus Rift? Me too!

This is probably one of the most competitive environments for gaming systems ever.Current Gen Systems offer superb performance as it is, and the PC is constantly evolving, but with the X-box one, PlayStation 4, Ouya, Oculus Rift, NVidia Shield, Wii U, GameStick, STEM system, Retron 5, and Steam Box all fighting for our future gaming dollars not to mention all the great software that will be on those platforms, tablets, cell phones, and computers where do we begin?  Want to walk on a multi directional treadmill in a Virtual Reality environment? See what it’s like to game on a 3D TV? See a demonstration of Augmented Reality? So do we! Getting a hands on preview will certainly make sure that we all walk away happy with our holiday purchase decisions.

Our event currently titled G3 will showcase both the latest hardware and software in a PUBLIC event.  We would love to see every developer there representing their platform with all the new and upcoming titles for us to play.  We would love to see all the great keynote speakers present their best live not as per the media coverage.  We would love to be part of the atmosphere having that many enthusiasts in one place. We would love for you to be there with us!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, when is this event you ask? We are currently working with several convention centers to figure out availability and ensure their centers will be able to meet our needs (power, internet bandwidth, security, etc.), but will be looking to host it late October early November in time for holiday shopping to commence while leaving enough time for you to make travel plans.

Where will it be located? That will be determined when we know the approximate size of the venue we need taking into consideration the number of vendors and attendees.  We are hoping for a west coast venue, but are considering all locations with (1) cheap accessible flights, (2) lots of hotels, and (3) huge convention centers.  We even have reach goals that may bring an event closer to you (see below).

How long will the conference last? That will depend largely on how many people and how many events we hold.We guarantee two days, but have reach goals that will extend the days of the conference (see below).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is this Kickstarter so short? We need to book a venue hall. The venue hall needs money to reserve the dates, and we need to know how big of a room to pay them for.We also want to give you enough time to book your airline tickets because we know that those are less expensive when you’re able to book a couple weeks out.  It’s a tight timeline, but we know if there’s demand it will happen.

Why is the funding goal so high? We need to get a large enough group of people together to get the industry to stand up and notice.Frankly they will come if they think there’s money to be made, and the more people are there the more likely they’ll get enough sales and PR to pay for their time and displays. We figure with our fundraising goal where it is we should get at least 20,000-25,000 people which should be big enough for the industry to support.

How can I help? Great question.  Buy your tickets today! And while we’ll certainly appreciate you telling your Facebook friends, twitter followers, and fellow clan members it will be a lot more fun (not to mention cheaper) to get your personal gaming crew together and share a hotel, car, and a whole lot of good times together. Talk to them and get them here supporting G3 too!

What if I can’t attend once the date and time are announced?  We would really like to see multiple weeks and multiple locations so this doesn’t happen, but if it does we will set up a forum for official resale of your tickets.  Remember, we’re using Kickstarter because we need a minimum amount of funding to get our project off the ground. We’ll do everything in our power without jeopardizing everyone’s event.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our goal is to make sure you have a fun safe environment with few enough people to see what you want to see and do what you want to do.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To ensure that we meet our goal we have set several reach goals for you to make G3 even bigger and better. We know that traditionally reach goals are for a set amount of funding, but ours are based on attendance. The more people that are going to be there the more we’re going to try to spread out the days people attend.

20,000-30,000 people: One 2 day conference. This is our minimum level of funding and minimum number of days

30,000-40,000 people: One 3 day conference. We really feel a 3 day conference will better meet the needs than 2.

40,000-50,000 people: One 4 day conference. More people more days

50,000-60,000 people: One 5 day conference. We figure 60k people is about the most we would ever want to see at any one conference so we’re putting a hard cap on it there for any conference.

60,000-80,000 people: Two 3 day conferences. We would love to see this conference on the east coast somewhere.

80,000-100,000 people: Two 4 day conferences. 2 coasts twice as much fun

100,000-120,000 people: Three 3 day conferences.Look for this one in a central location

120,000-150,000 people: Three 4 day conferences. This would be amazing.

Every 50,000 people above that we’ll add a new location based around where the most people are from.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, we would like to THANK YOU for checking us out, for your excitement, and be sure to check back often as we will be updating this page as we begin to secure vendors, and venues.

Risks and challenges

Our team ranges everything from event planners and public relations folks, to graphic designers and artists, to accountants and web developers. We have the right people in place to get G3 off the ground once it gets funded. Not only that, but we’re gamers ourselves. We’ve competed and been ranked nationally across several genres and titles, but mostly just love the comradery we have with each other.

Our single biggest risk is getting support from the hardware and software developers. As we’ve explained this is why we have one of the biggest funding goals in Kickstarter history. We understand that we need to make this worth the vendors’ time, and have set high goals to ensure that. We don’t believe that the bigger companies can risk anymore bad publicity having backpedaled on their stances so much in recent times. This will give them an opportunity to set things straight. If we aren’t able to get the support we need for a convention we would like to attend we will issue refunds to the maximum extent possible to all who have helped fund G3.

Our other major risk, which we can mitigate around, is finding appropriate venues for the convention. There are several factors weighing into our decision (size, location, cost, support functions, dates, etc.) and given such a short time frame it may be difficult to get the best venue, but if it comes to the worst case scenario we’ll rent some tents and generators, and throw the biggest baddest party in the middle of the desert we can. We’ll even order enough port-a-johns that they don’t overflow.
