AirTracks Carbon : Inflatable All-Terrain Camera Slider.
AirTracks Carbon is an ultra-portable, rugged video slider. Silky smooth movements and supports eight pounds of gear.
What are the AirTracks Carbon?
AirTracks Carbon is an inflatable camera slider system with a superior quality carbon fiber dolly that packs entirely into an included compact carrying case. It's small, light weight, has tons of great features, and looks extremely professional. Meant to replace the weight and bulkiness of metal sliders which are obtuse, heavy, and usually way too short. The AirTracks Cabon takes the silky-smooth movements of a metal slider, and shrinks it down to a compact size. This makes it extremely easy to go places without having to worry about airport security, carrying cumbersome gear on hikes, or damaging a metal slider.
Why Carbon Fiber ? Because it's light, strong, resilient, and great looking. There is no better material for this application.
Below is the newest video of the pre-production prototype. It is greater than 95% true to the finished camera slider.
AirTracks Carbon can easily travel along with you, even on your longest hikes.
Where to use the AirTracks Carbon
The AirTracks Carbon were made to be taken almost anywhere. A few examples include:
- Product shots
- Stock videos (this is HUGE! Film in places traditional sliders can't go. A lot of people make their living off stock videography / photography!)
- Hikes, backpacking or camping
- Freelance cinematographers
- Air Travel
- Real estate videos
- Snowboard terrain parks and other extreme sports
- So much more... the list is limitless!
How to use the AirTracks Carbon
As soon as you're ready to shoot, inflate the track, install your camera, and start shooting. Within two breaths and a few squeezes of the built in hand pump, you have a 6-foot dolly ready to use wherever you are. As soon as you're finished, twist the mouth valve to instantly release the air, roll it up and you're on your way.
What will the money be used for?
Your funding dollars will be used to purchase the raw materials and to purchase or create some specialty tooling. Twill weave carbon fiber, resin, aluminum for the dolly mold, the nylon for the track, the Manfrotto ball head, etc.. I will form, manipulate, and combine all of these raw materials into the professionally finished product.
I am offering two main rewards ; The complete AirTracks Carbon kit, and the kit with a Manfrotto Ball head, Included in the kit is :
- The 6' long inflatable track
- The Carbon Fiber dolly
- The carrying case
- Two Dampening Control Struts
The second option is to select the reward with the Manfrotto Ball Head.
Dampening Carbon Fiber Strut
Special additional inflatable : ARC TRACK
The ARC Track fits into the carrying case along with the straight track, so you can have two types of inflatable tracks, your dolly, and ball head in the compact carrying case.
Here is a video of the improved and refined prototype inflatable track.
Another Update : I have sourced a professional carrying case to house the deflated track, dolly, and ball head.
The Final Addition... Nylon Fasteners.
Some of the other Carbon Fiber projects I have developed....
Below is a mosaic of some of the other specialty carbon fiber items I've produced over the years. I am an accomplished designer / fabricator and I will enjoy producing the new improved AirTracks Carbon for you.
And here is my newest project... One piece carbon fiber duct and motor mount assemblies for Aerotestra.com's new larger quadcopter. I produce the duct, struts, and central motor mount from raw carbon, then bond them all together to form the finished product.
Risks and challenges
I'm in an anxious position. I have been attempting to internally fund business growth through sales, but it's very challenging. My business model is not typical. Instead of opening a store front and selling pre-manufactured goods, I am developing and manufacturing specialty items and selling them on an as needed basis. I have literally no capital from which to fully develop a new item, manufacture it in quantity, then stock the item on a shelf. I am using all my capital to simply live (pay rent, eat, visit the dentist, etc.). This business model is unacceptable to typical loaning institutions because I have no stock which could be seen as collateral, nor do I have any collateral myself (house, car, etc).
Speaking specifically about the AIRTRACKS however, I have sourced all the materials and supplies, and can easily produce each and every item.
I only wish I had access to capital to fully develop a manufacturing process for all the items I am and will produce.
