The control box of a Very Low Frequency (VLF) metal detector in Induction Balanced (IB) configuration is nothing more than an oscillator, transmitting signal amplifier, receiving signal amplifier, analog filter, and processor. All these components exist inside the smartphones. The difference is: most metal detectors are made using components and circuits belong to last decades, but smartphones have cutting edge analog system updated every year. CSP86 is powered through the headphone jack of your phone. There is no need for an external battery. It differentiates between various kinds of metals. It is pre-programmed for precise detection of Gold and Silver. It has two versions: the compact version, CSP86, and the waterproof version, CSP86+.

Privacy Concern: "what data will you use or collect from our phones? Do you collect/log GPS informations?"
Our app works completely independent from the internet. Absolutely no data collection or transfer of any data to any server. The GPS and mapping features are certainly inactive by default. To active it, the user should go to AKYOR app setting and turn it on. If the users decide on using the mapping features, all GPS data will be stored only inside the smartphone, certainly no data transfer to the outside by our app.
Professional metal detectors with multi-frequency system, discrimination & target identification, ground balancing, depth measurement, and GPS & mapping, require complicated analog & digital circuits, fast processors & memory, and strong graphics & display. Combining all these parameters results in an expensive, giant, heavy, and complicated device called “Metal Detector”.

Smartphone manufacturers use cutting edge technology in their products. Manufacturing the product in an extremely large scale allows them to set a very affordable price for a smartphone. Over 90% of components needed to make a VLF metal detector already exists inside your smartphone. What components? Components to make transmitting signal (Headphone audio output), components to receive the incoming signal (microphone input of your smartphone), signal buffers and amplifiers (internal analog circuits of smartphone), processor, memory, digital/analog filters, display,…. If you have a smartphone, you already paid for 90% of your metal detector. So, you don’t need to pay over $1000 for a multi-frequency metal detector with advanced features. Without the ArmRest, CSP86 extends from 23cm (9") to 109cm (43") and CSP86+ extends from 40cm (15.75") to 122cm (48"); allowing them to fit both adults and kids.

Say "Good Bye" to the technical headaches when using a smartphone-based metal detector employing a user friendly app. We took all the headaches during past two years to make it simple to use. We made it adaptive, auto tuned, and smart. For tuning the sensitivity, proper frequency, measurement parameters for soil or water, ground balancing, and specific target hunting, just push a button; you are ready to go.
Conventional Very Low Frequency (VLF) detectors in Induction Balanced (IB) structure use two coils in DD configuration. One coil is transmitter and the other one is receiver. The coils should be precisely oriented and adjusted in manufacturing step to keep the detector in balance. That's why we call them IB. DD structure is sensitive to the environment that the detector is used. For example, water or soil minerals affects its performance. We do not use DD structure. AKYOR metal detectors are based on Differential Induction Balance (DIB) technology, a patent pending technique more advanced than IB. DIB coil has longer lifetime, is less sensitive to the media such as saltwater and mineralized soil, and has better performance in detection range and discrimination. That's why we get a great result from the audio jack output of the smartphone.
In our patent pending DIB technique, the out-of-balancing can be simply corrected by software and not necessarily by mechanical adjustment of the coil orientation. So, compared to the common IB detectors, AKYOR’s detectors have great performance in ground balancing, discrimination, and depth when used on mineralized soils and in salt-water. Furthermore, DIB technology allows for two differential measurements at the same time, resulting for a better noise filtration.
The smartphone app is the main advantage of AKYOR metal detector over contemporary technologies. Manufacturers of metal detectors, regularly introduce new models of their products. When buying a metal detector from the market, you practically use it for a limited time. New features and better performances encourage any customer to buy a new model. With smartphone-based metal detector, you pay once for the hardware and will receive many software updates in the future. So, you will always be up to date with AKYOR technology without any pressure from the manufacturer to sell you a new model.
Why processing power matters?
In addition to our novel detection technology, in technical viewpoint, a smartphone metal detector can be far more advanced than a conventional metal detector with a similar price range. For example, below is a picture of the internal circuit of a metal detector sold $200-$300 in the market. Compared to any modern smartphone, its processing power, memory, and graphical power is thousands times weaker.
Why processing power matters? Faster processing power allows for frequency-domain calculation and applying multiple digital filters and detection algorithms on the received signal, resulting in a more reliable performance. Faster processing power allows for simultaneous multiple frequency measurement and fast calculation. Faster processing power also allows for a faster recovery time. In addition, faster processing power allows for linear graphical scan, not performed by every metal detector in the market.
Pull Tab / Bottle Cap Discrimination
Distinguishing Pull tab and bottle cap from valuable gold and silver targets has always been a challenge for metal detectors. The problem with pull tab and bottle cap discrimination comes from their electrical conductivity that is similar to other valuable metals. Most VLF metal detectors in the market, are measuring the differential phase of transmitting-receiving signal in a single frequency. That phase shift for pull tab and bottle cap is close to other valuable metals, that's why conventional detectors have problem in discrimination of pull tab/bottle caps.
Electrical conductivity is not a constant, it varies by frequency. So, a multi-frequency metal detector performs better in discrimination. On the other hand, in our patent-pending DIB technology, we not only consider the phase shift, we measure phase/amplitude/frequency signs of the transmitting/receiving signal. It gives much deeper information about the target material. Thanks to the processing power of the smartphones, all these data can be processed in fraction of a second. Our metal detectors are not only VLF, they work in both VLF and ULF frequency spectra. In very low ULF frequencies, high conductivity materials such as silver behave completely different than high frequency. That property is used to discriminate silver from other materials.
When discriminating challenging targets such as pull tab and bottle cap using CSP86 families of metal detectors, we must use the square-shaped Multi-Frequency Graphical Window. this window is explained in the "Smartphone App" section below. This window, shows a unique ULF-VLF behavior curvature for any material. Distinguishing the silver from other metals is super simple B.C. the left side of the curve (ULF area) is so sensitive to the silver. Silver shows a raising curvature. Aluminum bottle cap has the closest form to the silver. But, it looks like a "V" shape not a rising curve. So, discrimination of bottle cap is easy.
The curvature shape for pull tab and foils is close to the curve shape of gold. But, they have a small difference in the middle frequencies. So, pull tab can be distinguished from the gold targets.
Why ArmRest? Conventional metal detectors are so heavy. Lifting a device with several pounds of weight for a long time needs strong muscles! Hence, ArmRest is a mandatory part to spread the metal detector weight on your hand. CSP86 families of metal detectors are much lighter than any other professional metal detector in the market. You can simply keep it in your hand with no need for an ArmRest. However, it is recommended to use our custom designed attachable ArmRest if you plan to continuously use CSP86/CSP86+ for a long time.
Dynamic Linear Scan
A precise dynamic scan requires a fast recovery time, a fine pinpointing capability, and a high processing and graphical power. Not every metal detector in the market can perform an advanced linear scan. Dynamic linear scan allows for detection of multiple items at the same time, discrimination of multiple non-similar materials, and estimating the size of targets.
Immediately after the end of our Kickstarter campaign we will complete our hardware/software design according to the comments/suggestions received from the community. On mid January 2019 AKYOR team starts a limited volume in-house production of beta products for evaluation. Our in-house facilities and equipment allow for this limited volume production. After receiving the feedback from the beta testers/reviewers and final corrections, we will immediately start mass-production on March 2019. We plan to outsource the manufacturing process of some components such as metal bodies and packaging while keeping proprietary technologies in-house. Our metal detectors are mainly assembled, balanced, calibrated, tested, and quality controlled in Texas, USA. We use high quality materials and components from well-known US and international companies.
If we reach the $100K goal, we will complete the GPS tracking and mapping feature of our app.

In this platform, you can search in the map to find the best treasure hunting places in your area. You can upload the pictures of your metal detector finds and share it with your friends. You can even ask other members of this community to send you the setting files of their metal detectors or just upload yours to allow your friends to employ your experience.
It must be noted that this optional online platform is completely independent from AKYOR metal detector app. Even if the user decides to use it, it will not be connected or synced with AKYOR metal detector app because of privacy concerns.

Metal detecting can be a great hobby for different ages. It takes the users in the fresh air while having great physical and mental activities. Walking in a beach, jungle, mountain, or parks while learning about the history, coins, and relics can be so beneficial. However, It must be noted that many archaeological sites, face serious damages from treasure hunting. In AKYOR, we always encourage the users for a responsible metal detecting. Prior to purchasing and employing any metal detector, please spent some time to educate yourself about the regulations, required permissions, and limitations for treasure hunting in your area. Purchase, import, retail, and the use of metal detector can be restricted in one country, state, city, or even in a specific private/public land. Backers are responsible for any local, state, or national fines, taxes, or any extra fees and charges to purchase, import, employ, or abuse of the metal detectors.
If we make a large enough community of treasure hunters, with the help of this community, we plan to develop an online database to provide free information to the backers. This database will include information about the local history, relics, best treasure hunting locations, regulations, and previous experience of other members of the community in that area. By Backing and sharing this project, support us to reach this Stretch Goal.
