This card case is made of the same carbon fiber material that is used in many extreme applications. Not only is it strong and light, but it is also considered to be beautiful by many, especially people who understand and respect it's strong physical properties. The Essential Carbon Playing Card Case makes a bold statement about one's tastes and makes a killer conversation starter at any card game.
I am raising funds to pay for the fabrication of multiple molds and the purchase of bulk materials. I would like to raise enough money that it is necessary to work with the local composites shop with 30 years in business experience. We will make one mold for every 25 rewards that need to be made for backers, so that each part gets no less than optimal time in the mold.
Alternately, if the funding amount does not warrant outsourcing, I will produce several molds in-house and kickoff a short production run . The prototypes you see in this campaign were produced in-house with the mold being vacuum bagged and cured under heat and 60lbs of atmospheric pressure.
Once all the rewards are sent out, the molds will be used to produce parts to be sold wholesale to distributers for a price similar to that which the backers contributed for each reward.
Risks and challenges
Low Risk. The production process has been prototyped extensively and I have met several times with a local composite shop with 30yrs in the business who has agreed to take on a high volume production order. We have established terms and planned procedures for a bulk production run consisting of multiple mold tools and the implementation of proper post curing.
My funding goal is modest, but I would love to see this project get backed many times over. I promise that no matter the amount of funding, I will ship every reward in a reasonable, timely manner. My business experience tells me that unforeseen challenges can arise unexpectedly. If challenges arise, I will be transparent about them, and I will let you know what I am doing to address the setback.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
