Quit Your Day Job Comedy Tour:
We all have wanted to do it. Dealing with incompetent management and lazy co-workers every day for years can drive one to the breaking point. For these three comedians, that is exactly what happened. One by one they told their jobs to suck it so they could live a life on the road telling jokes to strangers. Now they have come together to hit the road to spread their stories of freedom and sleeping until noon on the Quit Your Day Job Comedy Tour. It’s more than a comedy show, it’s a living, breathing example of how you don’t have to suffer the rest of your life behind a desk or on a sales floor. Quit your day job and come out to a show. But before you do, put some visine in a fresh pot of coffee in the break room. We are an independently funded comedy tour.
We will be traveling over 3,000 miles stopping in 11 different cities for 11 different shows in 4 states. Some of the costs we will incur are
$500 Estimated- Pretty accurate estimate. Based on what our travel vehicle getting appx 23 miles to the gallon and gas being around $3.85 per gallon.
$200 Lodging- Most often we will be couch surfing, sometimes, however, we will have to fork out some cash to stay in a hotel when crash pads don't pan out.
$250 Food- We are packing the cooler camping style, but we will still have to spring with food while on the road. Combined we likely could survive for this amount of time for about this amount.
$50 for various video accessory supplies (extra batteries and new tripod) We already have a few little HD cameras, but they could use new batteries and a tripod to make them easier to use for all the footage we will be taking.
Risks and challenges
The main challenge we face completing and 11 date tour is major break downs with the car during the trip. To combat this we have enlisted the help of a reliable mechanic to give the Subaru Outback we will be taking a thorough inspection prior to leaving.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Nope, we are good enough at talking on stage and off stage that most of our drinks are purchased by people that we bring a little laughter to. We appreciate them for laughing AND for buying us drinks! Plus, Matt really doesn't drink and he will be DD alot. (See Bio)
Because we aren't looking to profit from your assistance, we are looking to avoid losing money which would force us back to day jobs. Tour creator Matt Ward has spent time on previous tours perfecting tour budgeting (although he still needs some work on routing:). We know within 10% what our fuel costs will be and we have a good idea what our other expenses will be as well!
Yes, actually, before we get to Hattiesburg we are going to stop at Magnolia Cemetery in Leakesville Mississippi to visit and pay our respects at the grave of Bill Hicks. One of our biggest collective influences.
