I am thrilled to say that as of this morning I have reached my minimum goal amount, which means that my new album "Valentine Circle" will indeed get pressed - thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to all my wonderful backers! :-)
But there are still over a few weeks to go before deadline (9/30/12) and I can still use your help!!! Any additional contributions will be used to make the album:
a) sound better - get it professionally mastered and/or perhaps even bring in guest musicians on certain tracks;
b) look better - get a professional photographer for the artwork and/or expand the packaging to include the song lyrics;
c) reach better - hire a publicist to cover the release and/or a promoter to get "Valentine Circle" heard;
d) some combination of the above that makes the most sense.
I can't wait to send all of you your autographed copies of my new album this winter!!! So let's make it the best album it can possibly be, together. I truly appreciate your kind support!

Independent artists have more power now than they’ve ever had in the past. If we’ve got talent and time, if we’ve done our research and paid our dues, if we continuously practice and hone our craft – we can create music and get it out into the world. Simple as that.
But with that new power also comes new responsibility, challenge and essentially a new way of thinking. Something I wasn’t quite aware of back in my Bering Strait days, with major record label resources at our disposal. And that is: our #1 asset is our fans. You are the end consumers of our product, and you are whom we ultimately answer to.
I’ve had a wonderful experience getting my 1st solo album “Hallway” pressed, with the help of my most generous Kickstarter backers. Sure, it was nice to receive funds for my project, but to me it was far more than that. It was a direct communication from my listeners – and you said, “Yes Lydia, we want your music now!”
And for any artist, that part is invaluable. It re-ignites the fire. It re-awakens the muse. It reminds us why we set out to do what we do in the first place.
I loved the experience of getting my fans involved in the release of “Hallway”, and I would like to do it again, on “Valentine Circle”. With your kind help, of course!
Thank you for taking the time to check out my project, and for allowing me this privilege of continuing to create music for you to enjoy. I’m one lucky girl.
