We are Anna Książek and Andrea Pucci and we decided to go on a journey around the world. Our expedition, called How to (ex)change the world, starts in September 2015 from South-East Asia. Our goal is to find changemakers, people who in different places change the world for better. We want to describe their experiences, popularize their achievements, and look for an answer to the questions: Who are the changemakers? What do they have in common? What is it needed to change the world? The method of our trip will be the exchange: we want to give our skills and knowledge (eg. teaching English, Italian cuisine, organizing workshops) in exchange for a place to sleep and a meal.
• To describe stories of people who change the world in different corners of Earth. The collected material will be presented in our blog, in a newsletter of Good News (GoodNewsLetter), in articles, interviews, and videos.
• A collection of images featuring changemakers’s work as well as visited places, culture, and customs.
• To create a network of people who change the world.
• To describe other elements of the culture of the visited countries which will be worth to spread eg. recipes, sentences, customs and traditions.
• Regular reports about exchange-based traveling.
Imagine not to start the day with news about conflict and wars with which media are packed, nor with an email from your boss with a list of duties, but from the exciting and inspiring story of someone who changes the world for the better, who has a great idea and the strength to put it into practice. You read about his/her idea, motivation, activities, people who are engaged in that idea and whose life becomes better. You are calmer, with bigger faith in people, maybe you are ready yourself to contribute. Above all, that's what we want to offer you. The Newsletter of Good News, stories of inspiring people on your mail at least once a week. We know they exist. Since years, working in various non-governmental organizations, we see them and we meet them every day. We also know how to look for them in various places around the world. We have contacts thanks to organizations such as Ashoka, Amnesty International, and Scouting who decided to support us and become part of our expedition.
We are supported by the largest changemakers organizations. It is thanks to them that we have the first people to talk with and we hope through these meetings to get new contacts. However, to start our journey we need also your support.
Our method of travel will be exchange - our skills (eg. teaching English, cooking, working in farms, organizing workshops) in exchange for a place to sleep and food. This system will allow us to reduce the budget. But, chiefly, it will be a straightforward path to enter into a community, become part of it. We want to move mostly by hitchhiking, sometimes walking or by bicycle. All in all our expenditure during the journey will be quite small. There are only a few things we cannot barter. One is the ticket. Our journey starts in September 2015. Until June 2016 we want to visit the following countries:
India • China • Indonesia • Vietnam • Laos • Cambodia • Malaysia • Bangladesh • Nepal • Philippines • Burma • Taiwan • Sri Lanka
The ticket for 2 people to South-East Asia costs around 1000 euro. That is the amount of money which we would like to collect thanks to this platform. If we raise more, the extra money will be used for unpredictable situations where exchange would be not enough to survive.
Risks and challenges
If you are gonna travel the world over there are plenty of things that might go wrong. Bureaucracy and diseases can stop you for quite a few weeks. However, positive attitude and certainty of doing the right thing are our plus. The strength the changemakers have is seriously contagious.
The big challenge is to find them on the way. In this we are gonna need everyone support. That is one of the main goals of our crowdfunding campaign: motivate and involve other people in joining and support this idea.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
