Set in the Wild West gold rush era, Ruby Roundup! is a frantic race to mess with your foes while grabbing as much treasure as you can!
You’re an explorer in a strange new land, trying to be the first to stake the best claims and make a name for yourself - but so is everyone else, making Ruby Roundup! a frantic race to grab as much treasure as you can while manipulating, denying, and stealing treasure from everyone else!
Filled with zany characters, high quality playing pieces, and almost 100 unique illustrations, Ruby Roundup! is a light bluffing game that can be enjoyed by everyone!
A large gorgeous game board
Acrylic gems instead of paper tokens!
Actual weighted poker chips as player markers!
Easter Eggs, Secrets, and Surprises!
Part of creating this game was trying to stuff it full with as many little hidden goodies and secrets as I could. Things like codes, puzzles, and panoramic art spanning multiple cards are just a few of the examples - I can't even mention where I placed them, least I spoil all the awesome surprises hidden for you to discover!
Our good friends at Loading Ready Run did a live play through of Ruby Roundup! on Wednesday, August 15th. Shenanigans ensued!
Reveal a Random Win Condition
Shuffle the Win Condition deck and place the top card face up on the deck. Whomever collects this treasure first wins!
Deal Everyone Two Character Cards
Everyone gets two random characters to choose from. Pick one then return the other to the game box.
Choose your Starting Player Cards
In the left side of the character's portrait you will (usually) find two character card symbols. Chose one of these to determine your starting Player Cards. Player Cards are the heart and soul of the game – they are the tools players used to royally mess with each other before moving on and scoring their own claims…
Load the Claim Cards
Each round random Claim Cards are placed on the game board. They depict the various treasures you need to win the game such as: Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, and drawing cards. The first player to mark these (usually) gets them.
Choose a Random Player to go First
Randomly select a player to start the round. They gain the First Player card. Then give the person to their right a random Last Player card.
Play One Player Card
Each player gets to secretly play one Player Card on the Action Space that points to the claim they wish their card to affect. Multiple people can play on the same space, and playing a card in this way is optional.
Play One Player Marker
Each player gets to play one of their Player Markers. To play a Player Marker, chose a Claim Card that doesn't already have a player marker on it - then place your player marker directly on it.
Resolve the Claims
On your turn, reveal all of the cards on your marked claim at the same time then apply their effects to the claim. Gain any treasure remaining by taking the appropriate number of gems tokens from the reserve and put them in front of you. Then remove your marker and discard the claim card.
Repeat Until Someone Wins!
As soon as anyone equals or exceeds the treasures depicted on the Win Condition card they win! Otherwise, discard any remaining Claim Cards and replace them with new ones. Then start a new round.
Loads of Fun and Variance
While I can't post literally every card here, below are a few examples of the fun things you can expect.
Some claims grant you permanent abilities!
Some Claims can add or even change the win Conditions!
Others add even more excitement and mayhem!
Stretch Goals are a fun way for us to add even more exclusive content!
Next we do a pile of upgrades!
- Double Sided Game Board.
- Metal Coin for first player marker.
- Sleeve friendly plastic card inserts.
- 310 gsm card stock.
Extra Claims would be awesome! How about 4!
2 exclusive new characters to every backer! Most likely feline and canine!
In order to give everyone the best rates possible, shipping will be collected after the campaign through a survey by Backer Kit and all orders will be sent out through a fulfillment center. For example rates, most U.S. orders are estimated to cost between $10-15 U.S.D. depending on location, 19-20 U.S.D. for most of Europe.
Not only am I 100% invested in this project, here is my personal email in case you have any further questions or comments:
My goal is to reply to every email thrown at me so please keep that in mind while you're waiting for me to respond. In the first week of the campaign I expect to be flooded with emails.
Risks and challenges
Excluding the Stretch goals, all of the art in Ruby Roundup! has been 100% completed and paid for, and all of the playing pieces have been pre-sourced and pre-approved by the game manufacturer themselves (though they allow for slight color and pattern variations). This means that not only is Ruby Roundup! a guarantee to go the moment it hits its funding goals, but that we expect a smooth and hassle-free production release.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
