Who We Are
Picardy is an online interactive platform for developing theory and musicianship skills, both inside and outside of the classroom. Our goal is to better help teachers help their students through an emphasis not only on effective pedagogy and meaningful content, but on a positive and productive user experience for both the student and instructor, anytime, anywhere. Learning the ins and outs of music through music theory and musicianship skills is what really makes music come to life.
Based in Austin, Texas, the live music capital of the world, we rely heavily on the expertise of doctoral and other advanced degree holders in music theory, composition, education, and performance, many of whom are college and university professors.
Effective learning begins with good content and an easy-to-use delivery system. We keep things simple so that things don’t get bogged down. And no more General MIDI — we only use good quality sounds samples. Content is also presented in smaller, more manageable chunks, with an emphasis on carefully sequenced repetition. This approach to guided practice promotes a higher level of interest, interactivity, and longer engagement with the material.

Why We Need Your Help
We need $5,000 to help us finish our goals for our launch on August 1, 2015.
These costs will help to cover costs to finish writing, testing, and refining our content. It also goes a long way to pay for costs associated with hosting, technology monitoring, engineering needs, and refining tests to help ensure that the complex parts of the tech side is as smooth as possible. Finally, this money helps to cover the costs related to refining the design to enhance the interface and overall experience of each user.
$10,000+ If we reach our next tier goal, we’ll also be able to implement more features to help keep students motivated and heighten their overall experience. We would: • engineer a points tracking system • a more beautiful personal stats interface and design • a days active counter
$15,000+ If we’re able to reach our top-tier goal (and more) we’ll be able to bring you more features sooner, including many or all of the following: • An Instructor Dashboard for teachers to use to customize and upload their own content, curriculum, and have complete control over their digital “classroom” • Mobile app for iOS and Android for faster response and shorter load times • Design and implementation of badges to provide an extra layer of motivation — compete with classmates! • Compete with you “classroom” and head-to-head drills (both timed and untimed) with fellow student
Risks and challenges
As with any project, certain goals will be prioritized. Depending on how much we raise, specific features (like design or a points tracking system) may be delayed or de-prioritized. However, we will use every penny to push our efforts forward to develop a creative and informative approach to learning musicianship. The more we raise, the more we can do!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
