THE CAUSE CAP
The Cause Cap continues our mission to employ the transitioning homeless and make the best-made products on the market.
Employs the Transitioning Homeless: We've been at this for over 4 years working hard to get individuals off the streets and into stable employment. We've made a huge impact with our gear and now it's time to take the next big leap. With this cap we are employing the transitioning homeless to package up each and every cap and get them sent out the door to you.
Guaranteed for 5 years: We've worked hard to develop the highest quality cap in America and we're standing behind that diligence with a 5 year guarantee. If at any time in the next 5 years your cap should run into problems, we hope you'll send it back to us to have it mended by our team here in Austin, TX. We've designed our caps to last, but if something should come up we're using it as another chance to help employ those in need.
The Cause Cap...
- Is made in the USA
- Guaranteed for 5 years

Breathable Buckram Front Reinforcement: Unstructured caps tend to get floppy and lose their shape. Helps with wear and tear - fabric bends the most there. Less likely to become weathered and worn.
Soft Touch Brushed Twill Material: We sourced a sanded and brushed twill material that gives the cap a worn-in feel but maintains one of the highest tensile strengths possible for a twill weave structure. In short, it's one of the most tear resistant fabrics possible for cap construction. And it feels nice.
Heavy Weight Abrasion Resistant Threads: To push on the durability a bit more, we used a heavy weight abrasion resistant thread throughout the entire cap. The thread is a beast on the sewing machines and not the easiest to work with, but it holds up a lot longer than average gauge threads.
2 Piece Durable Poly Snap: Not your basic snapback. The polymer used doesn't fade or become brittle. When plastic dries out over time, it tends to crack and lose its flexibility. The poly snap will stand up over time.
Suede Accent Patch: Subtle style is woven into every Cause Cap that enforces the Mitscoots mission. We spent longer than you could imagine deciding where the stylish suede patch should reside.
8 Row Stitching: 4 vs. 6 vs. 8 rows of stitching on a visor. Who knew there were so many options? The number of rows of stitching determines how strongly the fabric adheres to the bill. It costs more time and money to produce with each row you add (each row is sewn by hand!).
486 Visor - The 486 is a more dense material than is used the average cap. No cardboard or breakable materials here. It's stiff but pliable and is the best visor in the business.
Top Stitch - Yet another place where we reinforced the construction of the cap. Typically, stitching happens inside the cap, where contact with the head over time can wear out the thread. We put it outside to ensure the band and bill will always stay sewn solid.

THE MITSCOOTS OUTFITTERS STORY
While volunteering on the streets of Austin, Texas in 2008, we discovered that right after food and water, there was no greater request among the less fortunate than for a clean pair of socks and some quality gear. That sparked our mission. So, for every item purchased, we give an equal quality item to someone in need and take pride in employing the transitioning homeless to get each and every style packaged up and ready to go.
Mitscoots makes gear with a Mission: Get + Give + Employ
HOW WE EMPLOY
We understand that not having the right gear out on the street is only part of the problem. The greater issue stems from individuals in need not being able to provide for themselves. With that in mind, we have partnered with several organizations that specialize in taking individuals off the streets and getting them into steady employment situations. We are able to offer those in need an opportunity to get back on their feet by helping to package all of our gear and getting it shipped out to our customers.
To make the minimums required to get production going, we need 500 people to join our campaign and proudly wear a cause cap to tell the world that by making great things, we can go out and do great things for others!
THE FINE PRINT
If you have a problem with your cap, send it back to us however you see fit. Please let us know how you're shipping it and maybe give us a heads up with some tracking information. Once we get it, we will mend the cap with our stellar, ready and waiting staff. The return postage is on us and we tend to get things out the door pretty quickly.
If you're an international customer, that's why your initial shipping might be a little bit more than others. Because international shipping can be so drastic and variable depending on where you are, we have stacked that into the front end of the campaign contribution. Long story short, we don't make anything on the shipping and are more concerned with getting our guys and girls more work.
Lastly, we are not guaranteeing the cap against stains. Stains are character and we hope that you beat the heck out of your Cause Cap and give it loads of character. We are talking a 5 year guarantee in regards to manufacturing defects like thread tears and fabric failure.
Risks and challenges
This is our 3rd crowdfunding and 4th year in operation. We got this.
