MATCH+ is a documentary film that chronicles the stories of HIV+ singles and the matchmakers who help them.
How do you find love and marriage when you are HIV-positive? And how do you do that in India, where marriage is a must but HIV/AIDS is unspeakable? MATCH+ is a documentary film chronicling the personal stories of men and women looking for mates (often while keeping their HIV status a secret) and the matchmakers who help them. They are challenged to meet society’s expectations at every stage of the trajectory—from finding and choosing a mate to getting married to having HIV-negative children. Ancient tradition and the new reality of HIV collide—MATCH+ is the modern love story that results.
Our project status:
We are leaving in January 2011 for our most intense production trip. We plan use these funds to pay for production expenses: travel, lodging and crew costs (we are committed to working with local crew while we are there). In the spirit of true independent filmmaking, we plan to stretch our dollars as far as they will go!
So far, our project has been supported by the Sundance Documentary Film Program, the LEF Foundation, Chicken & Egg Pictures, and Women Make Movies, and the Center for Asian American Media.
But we need your support to make this next trip happen!
