“Every once and awhile an artist/ensemble creates a sound so vast and original that all you can say about it is that it “defies categorization,” that fail-safe phrase that more or less means open you ears, open your heart and let the music in. Victoire's new album Cathedral City deserves such a phrase.” - New York Examiner
“Is Victoire’s music post-rock, post-mimimalist or pseudo-post-pre-modernist indie-chamber-electronica? It doesn’t particularly matter. It’s just good music.” - NPR’s First Listen
“Victoire condense moments of focused beauty and quiet conviction from the pandemic distractions of modern life.“ – Pitchfork
"One of the top 10 classical albums of 2010" – NPR
Cathedral City is "one of 2010's most memorable albums". - Alex Ross, The New Yorker

Victoire is a family of five New York-based musical misfits: Missy Mazzoli (compositions, keyboards), Olivia De Prato (violin), Eileen Mack (clarinet), Lorna Krier (keyboards) and Eleonore Oppenheim (double bass). In 2008 we came together to perform Missy's music, (a hard-to-categorize blend of dreamy chamber pop, romantic classical music and glitchy minimalism) and we've been on a wild and wonderful ride ever since!
Our first concert took place in Missy's Brooklyn living room, but soon after that we found ourselves performing all over the country in venues ranging from Chicago's Millennium Park to downtown New York venue The Stone. Members of Victoire have performed with the Philip Glass Ensemble, Esperanza Spalding, Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond) and the National, in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to Lower East Side art galleries, but Victoire holds a special place in our lives. We've logged countless hours on the road and have shlepped our instruments through snow and ice (and even a blistering midwest heat wave), and had a great time doing it.
We've been invited to perform in Europe this fall, in a combination of solo shows in Amsterdam, Essen and Berlin, and a set of dates opening for the unbelievable and inspirational My Brightest Diamond (Shara Worden) in Belgium and Paris. This is a dream-come-true for us, and we only need a little more financial support to make this a reality.
Backers of this project can receive a BUNCH of priceless goodies in return for their donation, including two secret, unreleased Victoire tracks, signed CDs from Shara Worden and Victoire, limited edition signed posters, and a sampler pack of great recent albums put out by New Amsterdam Records.
Your donations will be used to help fund Victoire's travel costs in Europe - nothin' fancy, just a big ole van and some expensive European petrol! Thank you for supporting us and for helping us make this trip possible!
