My name is Doo and I am the Wingaling Fairy! I make one of a kind fairy, pixie, dragon, and pegasus wings that I call, “Wingalings” and crocheted items including my Beardee dolls. I have been accepted to participate in the 2015 Minnesota Renaissance Festival season as a craft vendor but we could use your help!
I have been making my original, hand-built and painted costume wings since 2006. I started making simple, single-colored wings and have since developed my own style with unique, organic shapes, rich colorfully blended stains and intricate veining, all painted by hand.
I have been attending single or duel weekend Renaissance festivals and art fairs for the past seven years as a vendor using a pop-up canopy tent or displaying in community arts buildings.
I am excited to have my own permanent vending structure and expand my business. I will be vending for the full run of the Minnesota Renaissance Festivals 2015 season, which included 8 straight weekends of vending.
The space that I will be renting is a 23.5 square foot, “L” shaped, natural wooden structure. I will be purchasing new signage for the structure and wood and hardware to make counters and displays for my wares.
As a new vendor, I am met with the challenge of raising the money for the festival. The rental of the structure, fees for the festival, cost of supplies for signage and displays, gas for travel and camping fees, materials for the rewards for this Kickstarter and the Kickstarter fee will cost $4000. The fees for the festival are due in early June and the other costs will be needed as the festival draws closer this summer and as we travel to the site and prepare the shop.
Fulfilling this goal will allow me to focus on making Wingalings and other wares to sell at the festival, rather than taking out loans, doing further fundraising or taking on a 3rd job. We have been making Wingalings and other products all year and will continue to make them so that we will have many to sell during the festival season!
My collaborators include my talented fiancé, Calvin Jarchow, and his brilliant mom, Jodi. Calvin and Jodi help me produce the wings and make their own beautiful hand and loop-knitted accessories including hats, arm warmers and scarves. They will also be helping me to set up, and run the shop. Visit Calvin's website at NerdyNeedlesKnitting.com
My glorious best friend, Rachelle Johnson, will be our guest artist at the festival. In addition to helping me set up, and run the shop, Rachelle creates beautiful, fairy flower headdresses and jewelry.
My fairy minions/models include the amazing Nikki Wakal and Lisa Zibert. They will be helping with set up, production of wares, and sales through out the festival season.
Here are some examples of my work/reward options:
If we surpass our $4000 goal, the extra money will be used for additional accouterments to make the Doo's Wingalings Shop even more elaborate.
If we surpass our goal by $50-500, we will be able to purchase more signage and decor for the shop, including display materials and a fancy new dress form for displaying wings.
If we surpass our goal by $500-$1000, I will be able to purchase materials to make new costumes for my entire fairy crew. This will including making or purchasing wool felted vests like my fabulous one that I always wear! I have wanted to gift similar ones to my fairy friends for so long!
If we surpass our goal by $1000 or more, we will use the money to do all of the above and purchase new camping equipment. We camp on site for the festival and while our current camping equipment is primative, we would love to have a new, nicer set up to camp during the festival run. :)
While I will be participating in the festival no matter what, your generous contributions will help me bring the Doo’s Wingalings shop to life the way I truly intend it to be and help me to focus more of my creative energy on making my beautiful wares. So please, if you can, take advantage of some of the wonderful rewards that are available, share this with your family and friends and come and visit our new shop at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival every weekend from August 22nd through October 4th, in Shakopee, Minnesota.

Thank you so much for taking the time to peruse my Kickstarter! Happy Fluttering!
Special thanks to: Vestry of Mil for music, and Lisa Zibert for photography. And to Calvin, Jodi, Cheri & Jim (my Mom& Dad), Lisa, Nikki, and Rachelle for helping me put this Kickstarter together!

Risks and challenges
We are dedicated to this project no matter what. But your generosity will not only save us from the burden of debt and loans, it will allow us to focus our energy on creating a wonderful, whimsical new addition to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.
My potential challenges involve production times for the rewards. Please understand that my priority before the festival is making wares to sell in my shop so I am able to be a successful vendor. All of my products are created personally by me and my collaborators so I don't want to spread myself too thin. I am excited to create beautiful, handmade items for you. My projected reward delivery dates for handmade items are November to December of 2015, just in time for the holiday season! Thank you so much for your patience and understanding!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
