Titanium Pen and Clip update!

Some updates. A lot has happened since the kickstarter, and surprise surprise I am still making pens!

But Ill be brief.

1. So I didnt get the Ti out in time for Christmas, but its being released as of right now! Check it over at

2. I also launched a little video to showcase the Ti pen and some happenings in my home shop. More videos and projects to come.

3. Final update. I am working on something interesting... for those of you who wanted clips for your pens, I am making an attachable clip for all the existing Pen Project Pens. Hopefully these will be done in a few months... I mightkick-start the project to help front some of the manufacturing expenses. Some teasers below!

Let me know your thoughts in the comments! Hope you are all enjoying your pens.

I will certainly be in for clip. Cool design and the pen would stop rolling off of my desk!

I will certainly be in for 2x clips. Now the pen can stop rolling off of my desk!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Glad to see some enthusiasm for the clip and as expected some negative feedback on the titanium's cost. Making such a small batch of these ti pens has made it really difficult to keep costs close to the aluminum pens. The added cost of domestically sourced centerless ground titanium and the tooling required to work with titanium have hiked my costs by a surprisingly large factor. I decided to try a run of ti anyways and do it under my normal ethos of keeping things local, sustainable and not sacrifice quality. Thanks for the support everyone. Ill keep you all posted on new projects and such. Best,-Ian

I unfortunately lost my kick starter version. I would be interested in buying a new one with a clip if you were to do another kick starter.

I had a look at the Ti pen, and it is outstanding. It does cost more than my first car, so I am going to pass on the pen, but put me down for a clip for sure.

Definitely a +1 for the clip.

Ian have you considered adding a capacitive stylus nub with the clip?

Wow that pricing for titanium pen is way way overpriced:(. Even though I love your aluminum pen, I don't think changing the material to titanium will cost as much as an iPhone :OO

    11. Christian Meade on February 28, 2014

Yes, please on the clip!!! Super excited about that. But the Ti version... that's a bit high. I think I've bought every titanium pen on the market (I'm up to a dozen or more!), but at this price point, I'm afraid it will have to be a pass :o(

This will be a welcome add to my The Pen. I carry it in my pocket every day and I have had the same "roll away" issues as many other folks. Also, the design looks good and I like the attachment method. Provided the price is not too steep, I will certainly consider buying one. Please continue to keep your The Pen backers informed of progress so that we can all have an early opportunity to back/purchase one.

+1000 on creating an add on clip for the pen. I love my pen. I hate how it takes off across a table every time I put it down.

The clip looks beautifully engineered, and is an honest accessory: it can be added or removed as desired. Nice stuff!

May I suggest you make the clip longer. The current length is on the order of that on the Hinderer Investigator pen. When I use that pen as a pocket pen, attached to the top of my pocket, the short clip doesn't let the pen stay in place; it ends up lost *inside* my pocket instead.

So perhaps a short clip and a longer clip option using the same attachment collar?

Either way, sweet engineering work you did there!

Agreed! I'm totally down for a clip....and a 2nd pen when the clips come out.

Pen clip! Yes! Let us know when we can order. I'm totally down for one.
