Update #11: Android App!

Hi backers! We are excited to tell you that the Android version of the kGoal app is now live on the Google Play store and can be downloaded using the following link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.minnalife.kgoal&hl=en

We know it's taken us longer than we expected to release this and we sincerely apologize for the delay. We greatly appreciate your patience and are excited to get everyone going with the app component of the product.

A couple quick tips to help you get the most out of kGoal:

  • We just posted two great how-to videos (one about the device and one about the app) on kGoal's Help page: http://www.minnalife.com/pages/kgoal-help
  • Please make sure to actively quit the app when you finish a session instead of just going back to your phone's desktop / home page. The Bluetooth connection may have trouble if the app is still open in the background while you are not using it

We noticed when we published the app just now that Google currently supports a grand total of 2,332 different types of Android device. We've done our best to test the app with as many as we could but we were unfortunately not able to test with every single one. Please don't hesitate to email us if you have any questions or issues with the app (help@minnalife.com) and we will work to fix any bugs that are discovered ASAP. Finally, please keep your eyes peeled for app updates as we continue to work on implementing new features and correcting any problems.

Thanks again for your support - we're so grateful and we're excited to continue the journey!

I don't require the android app as I have the iPhone. What I did want to comment about is how much this device is helping me. Getting into other people's hands via android is going to help a lot of women like me. I've only used this constantly for about three weeks and it seriously is making a difference. I can sneeZe mildly now and not "leak". I can actually envision the day when a sneeze won't bother me one bit. I think the feedback this device gives helps me know that I'm squeezing the correct muscles and the app makes it fun like a game. The five minute work out is over so quickly. And the feedback of how accurate I am compared to previous workouts is brilliant. Self motivating! Thanks kgoal! I've told my doctor and her nurse and my friends all about this. It's the first item in this genre that is actually working for me and I'm sticking to the workout. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

      Hi all,
We published version 1.6 of the Android app this weekend (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details…), which has improved compatibility with Android v5 (Lollipop). As different phone/tablet manufacturers continue to roll out Lollipop to additional models in the coming weeks, we will continue to work to make sure no app compatibility problems are introduced. As always, please let us know (help@minnalife.com) if you have any trouble. Thanks!

      Hi all,
We published another update to the Android app (version 1.5) that has further improvements to the Bluetooth connection process for the models of phone that were still having trouble (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details…). Please continue to let us know if you're having trouble with the app (help@minnalife.com) and we will continue working hard to add new workouts and features as well as addressing any bugs that come up. Thanks and have a great weekend!

      Hi all,
We just published an update to the Android app (version 1.4 and available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details…). This version has cleaned up the Bluetooth connection process considerably and is working well on our test devices. As always, please let us know if you're having any problems (along with what model of phone/tablet you have), so that we can make sure the app is working smoothly with all Android platforms. Thanks and hope you all have a great weekend!

      Hi all,
We have been continuing to work hard on the remaining Bluetooth connectivity issues - from backer feedback it sounds like there are still a number of models of Android phone/tablet that are having problems. We have some workarounds for specific models and are working on a universal solution as well. In the meantime, please let us know your model of phone if you're having difficulties by emailing help@minnalife.com and we can work with you on any model-specific workarounds. We will also let everyone know as soon as the universal solution is available. Our apologies for the delays and thanks for your patience.

So now I got myself a new Moto G 2nd gen. It should have the appropriate bluetooth version. But it does not really work. It can connect, but not everytime. And when I try to start a workout it tells me it is not connected (no matter if the indicator lights in blue or white color).
I cannot find any solution on your website that works. Please advise.

One other note... for any backers whose phone is not able to install Android v4.3 or newer, please email us at customerservice@minnalife.com with your phone model and we will follow up regarding how to proceed. Thanks!

      Hi Android backers,
We wanted to let you know that we just published an updated version of the Android app (v1.2). It can be downloaded at the following link:
      https://play.google.com/store/apps/details…

Please keep the feedback coming if you have questions or issues with the app. Thanks!

Please give an update once you do a new release of the app - I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 which Im not planning to scrap yet, and it says it it not compatible.

      Hi Shana,

Thanks for the feedback! One quick note - you can always press the button on kGoal itself to reset the baseline to 0%, no matter what the shape or level of inflation is (just don't hold it down for more than a second or two, or kGoal will power down). This is a great way to make sure all your workouts are starting from the same foundation and makes it easier to see your progress.

I meant to say as of this morning's update. They released some sort of update this morning that will hopefully fix many issues.

As of this morning, the app works with my Galaxy S5. It IS very hard to get it in, but after slow pushing and patience, it was good. It didn't hurt after that, but due to the size of the device, I was always at 25% minimum, never at 0% for the exercises. It was fun to use and see that I'm much stronger than I assumed.

On iOS it works great. I am using thekGoal for 2 weeks & did not know I did have pretty good controle.
I hoop for you Android users, the problem will be fixed fast. Because the kGoal is fun to use.
      Good luck!

yep pairing is broken here too. GS4 stock OS.

I have a Galaxy S5 with Android version 4.4.4 and it doesn't work on mine either. I can pair it in the settings, but not the app itself. I tried unpairing it via the bluetooth settings and letting the app do it, but it didn't work. I tried pairing it via the bluetooth settings then loading the app and that didn't work. I tried restarting my phone and that also didn't work. It's insane that it doesn't even work on a Galaxy S5; a phone that has been out for less than a year and is running Android version 4.4.4. If it doesn't work with this device, I can only imagine what else it fails to work with.

Hi Yuliya, Mattias and other Android backers,

It does appear that there is an issue with connecting during the setup process for a significant number of device types - we are working hard on fixing it and expect to have an updated version available by the end of Monday.

Hi. I was able to install the app, but not connect the device via bluetooth. I have a GS3 with android 4.4.2. I was actually able to pair it via settings, but not in the app.

Thank you for finally releasing the Android app.
However, my girlfriend who will actually use this app can't install it because of an incompatible device.
She has a HTC One X with Android version 4.2.2.

The app works on my phone, Sony Xperia Z2 with Android version 4.4.4.

I believe the developers have used a too high version of the android sdk while developing. Thus 4.2 and below isn't supported? But I might be wrong.
Assuming a lot of people are still on version 2+ we will probably see more comments flowing in about it.
