Have a question?
I took an extended break from painting for a few months last year, so this completely fell off my radar - now that I am back on the brush, I'd like to get my videos.
I've tried emailing James through here 3 times, since the beginning of December, and he hasnt responded yet - does anyone have another way to contact him? More importantly, how do I go about getting my videos?
I never got any 'discount code' for my CMON digital download :(
CMON have created another new order for me and I'm actually downloading now! Yah!
@MarkD - I've only pulled down the painting fur one - 2.8GB for 1hour 40minutes of footage.
@Joshua R - I used email@example.com to contact them about the problems I had.
Finally getting to do the downloads, but can't add the videos to my cart on CMON. What email address have others been using to contact them? Their customer service page says "firstname.lastname@example.org" but that bounced back to me.
Worked perfectly for me. Downloaded without any problems. Very pleased with the product (as I knew I would be) and happy that the CMON site finally worked out. Best wishes!
Haha, CMON have stepped in to help and expired my videos and I now have a new set waiting in the 'pending' state, so one step forward and one back!
What seems to be the download time per video? How long are the videos?
Well order placed and the 'discount' code worked, but it's just sitting as 'pending' with the download links returning 'The link is not available.' :( Guess CMON will process my order at some point and enable the links, I suppose waiting a few more days wont hurt now!
Fixed for me! Huzzah!
I contacted the customer service of CMON and they fixed the problem right away! I'm currently downloading my videos :)
It looked like it was working this morning.. I added my videos to the shopping cart and procedded with the checkout procedure and in the end I was redirected to PayPal to pay 160$ so I cancelled the order and now my "discount code" is not working anymore ....
I'm having the same issue, even if first putting in paypal then going back to add my code.
I have the same problem: "Please specify payment method" and cannot proceed with the download.
same with the payment information page
I'm trying to download from CMON but I keep getting blocked at the "select Payment Information" step as there is no payment method to select ....
Looks like digital downloads are in place. Having got time to do this today but will do tomorrow and report back. Thanks James.
I go the USB way and got my videos long ago. Everything went super smooth and James is very nice person to talk with.
After that I ordered more videos (also on USB stick) and got it just today. James also included some extra bonus videos about bases, so I'm happy :)
I hope he eventulay manage the digital distribution, in the meantime the physical distribution is just fine.
Ohh, I didn't mentioned how great are the video tutorials. I learned a LOT of new things. Thank you James!
I also write CMON and received a response:
"Thanks for contacting. Being that we did not run the kickstarter, there is nothing we can do. James needs to provide more detailed information to us before any decision is made."
Doesn't sound like motion to me.
I have taken the liberty of messaging CMON direct. It's time for polite but firm direct action from everyone here.
Hi Mr. Wappel, I just wanted to send you some kind words of support for your continued trials in finding a home for your videos. I have full confidence that whatever you decide to do will work out for us digital folks. Thank you for your continued hard work on this project and continuing to put out inspiring content on your blog at the same time!
Any update on this?
How large a flash drive are we talking here? I went in for 7 videos from what I remember.
I caught up with James at Gen Con and heard a bunch of fascinating stories. I gave him my own flash drive and some postage (I didn't want it to cost him anything extra since his digital fulfillment partner seems to have all of the "screw James Wappel" bases covered). I got it back today full of videos and I can't wait to start watching and learning how he does what he does.
Did you have a chance to talk to CMON at GenCon? I'm still waiting patiently for the digital versions if they ever happen. I would prefer you don't have to mail me anything.
I just want to leave a note that James' DVDs are fantastic. I pretty much backed and ordered every one of them and they arrived for me a couple of months ago. Ironically I didn't get the chance to start watching them until today (yes life is busy) but I can say that there has been a lot of care taken with the content (many many hours of recording and editing with footnotes as well) so I'm pretty happy with the instruction on them.
I will comment that those still waiting give him a little slack as (coming from a tech-savvy point of a view), given the size/scope of the project (50+ dvds, each 1 1/2 hours of differing content) James by his lonesome (/small independent team) is most likely doing the best he can. I'm doing a personal backup of the DVDs onto my SSD drive for watching convenience and the paranoia that some of the DVDs will get corrupted over time. Needless to say it's taking me ages.
I will suggest to James however that next time (if ever there is a next time), to consider multiple videos put on a blu-ray disc (you can probably hold about 10-12 videos per disc - the cost of blu-ray writers and discs have done down dramatically in the past 5 years) as this would be more economical, maintain video quality and be more time-efficient. That or compressed hosting and downloads but that would be more costly (data hosting is costly).
@Robert - I'd suggest emailing James and just getting a USB drive. I too had the digital downloads and just missed the memo on the USB drive, but once I got in touch w/ James over email, he was super polite and quickly got me a USB drive with all the videos I had purchased, and I was even able to purchase more of them.
Unless there's some driving need you have for them to be digital downloads, I'd really suggest going the USB route.
Please can you tell us what is happening about the digital downloads? Another month has gone by since you said 'a new person is taking over this element, so hopefully that translates to immediate progress'. Sadly not.
Yay! Got home to a post pack! Looking forward to the weekend. Thanks James :)
@ Chris and greywulf
You guys aren;t going for the USBs? Check the last few updates
Hi James, still not sure what is going on with the digital but I don't mind, so long as it remains an option. The DVD player I have doesn't even work anymore. Digital is the way to go for me.
Any further news on the digital downloads? This is far beyond ridiculous now, and has ensured that I will never again back anything connected with CMON.
never min. Got it from latest update.
Happy to say that it looks like my DVDs will be on the ship next week
Could you pass me James' e-mail?
I want to contact him
Still waiting :-(
Wanted to say I got my videos on DVD the other day and they look great. James was wonderful to work with via email.
shame the eagle was discontinued by CMON
ditto what Mark said
Just received my DVDs yesterday and took a quick glance through them all. Very pleased with how everything turned out.
I cannot believe, it has been three more weeks without anything happening, apart from the information, that still two parties cannot get their act together and set up the digital download. I do not care about who is to blame or what is going wrong. Talk to each other, resolve the issue and make it happen!
Lucky u Michael!!!
Got mine in the mail today. fun times :)
@scott, Between us I honestly can't remember if it was or not.... I am looking forward to getting what I pledged for. I have been at times rather disgusted, and then completely forgotten that I backed for a couple weeks until I see it on the what I've backed list. I understand this is a rather large operation for James to have to work thru. Then again I was able to deal with a 95 unit mailing of custom fate decks in two days. So don't mind me I'm just riding the fence.
forgive me if I'm wrong but i thought all the burning was done before shipping even commenced.
hence my anger.
Of course scott he has by my count 982 DVD to burn, package and send out, and there are what 40 some choices? That isn't terrible for a man who by all accounts has what most of us would consider two jobs worth of painting to in a week. Granted an investment in a multi disc burner could have sped that up. And now I am wondering if Cool mini might be wanting all the physicals to have shipped before putting the digitals up to sell. As I'm sure we will just get a code for X downloads worth of product.
So let me get this straight.
It has taken two DAMN months to ship 100 rewards?
Seriously!! On average, we are looking at James posting 1 or 2 DVDs per day.
This is unacceptable. I'm so over this damn project.
Obviously, shipping rewards definitely comes second to James sitting down and painting
Why am I still waiting for the downloads to be available on CMON - they won't reply, you won't reply (and just give us a totally passive attitude that all you can do is wait for CMON) - you have had my money for over a year, when am I going to get what I paid for?
Has there been a discussion on what the MSRP of the digital versions of the videos might be? I realize some of that depends of the final landing spot for hosting, but a general idea if all the videos might be the same price, or if some will be considerably longer and thus more expensive?
It's more than a year since the founding and there is still no sign of the digital downloads. Can you please give us and update? Have CMON backed out? Do you have an anternative plan / solution?
I am waiting as well. I have been in contact with him via email, but no update on shipping just yet.
