We live in a society where there has been a huge strain on the family. There has been a painful disconnect between parents and children. That is the common theme I have observed sitting with many of my clients as a marriage and family counselor. My biggest heartache is watching people who want to change and grow but who are not ready to accept the responsibility that comes with growing. We want to give families tools to help them go through the process of growing when they are ready. My goal through this book series is to bridge the gap between them by teaching parents and children how to navigate difficult emotions woven through life.
This is preventative nurturing and care. If parents can learn to be a safe place for their children and if children can learn to express themselves and feel loved, a world of possibilities will open up for them. There's nothing more powerful than a person who feels safe, loved, and appreciated.
This is not just about the here and now but the generations to come; the bigger picture. When we build strong children through empathy, kindness, forgiveness, and love they can change the world around them. They become a light that will shine in the darkest of places.
Why Support This Project? The funds for this book will strengthen and empower the next generation of strong boys and girls through fun stories in beautiful, immersive illustration. Supporting this project is about investing in our family and shaping the future for them. With your help, we can change the status quo and not accept things simply because it's how they have always been in our families. We can break the cycle for ourselves and the people coming behind us. This is about becoming a better version of yourself and your family.
Apple Tart Media has many dreams and plans for the future! Daddy, Am I Beautiful? is the first of many books we plan to publish. Here are some of the goals we have in mind as we hit financial benchmarks:
$35,000 - 1000 limited edition "Book + Coloring Book" package. In addition to the Daddy, Am I Beautiful? book, it will come with a coloring book that will have Annabelle, her dad, and a fully designed emotion chart so children can get more familiar with different emotions as they color away.
$45,000 - We will donate 1000 books to low income families, through charities in the Los Angeles area, who can't afford therapy or books. Every family deserves the chance to grow and thrive.
$75,000 - We will start an app version of the book in complete animation and voice recording that children and parents can interact with. It's an experience for families to learn about different emotions together.
Thanks to the talents of our awesome illustrator, you can be one of the lucky recipients of our special character portraits or another of the exciting reward options. Check out our reward panel!
Thank you for stopping by to see our project!

Apple Tart Media is the company behind Apple Tart Series. This is a dream beyond myself to create a company that focuses on helping families become all that they're meant to be. We want to be able to come along side parents and children as they progress through life. We believe that no one should have to go through life alone, without a community. We are dedicated to being that support for everyone. This is family for family.
Risks and challenges
The first book is written and fully illustrated. The challenges that lie ahead are getting it printed and distributed. Going through a regular publishing house will compromise a lot of creative freedom that comes with self-publishing. There are a few contenders to publish through right now and we're weighing the pros and cons but as we move forward in the printing and distribution, we will keep you all updated.
The second book is written and awaiting funds to be brought to life in illustrations. The third book is in development and will be ready to illustrate and print very soon.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
