Once someone said these precious words: "Death is approaching like a white and elegant lady. What we understand as the end of life, the separation of body and soul, what we see as that stark figure of the human skeleton, ancient symbol of that death that frightens and amaze us... It ‘s what has always existed; it‘s part of who we are and what we celebrate." In Mexican culture, death has another face and is surprisingly celebrated. Memories are shared and converted into color... All children in schools, families at home, artists, the whole city, everything and everyone recreate it every year in a unique celebration that worships the pleasure of living with the imminence of death. La Catrina, being a popular invention, has become an artifact that has come out of the limits of the canvas and the engraving to be part of the Mexican culture, of its traditions and customs. Born from its position concerning to death. See it approaching him, and make it part of its environment, its art, and symbolizes the miscegenation.

This deck illustrations show the Mexican virgins of death with the classic vertical mirror composition, beautifully lying on a bed of roses. Although each figure has a different design, they have in common that the Kings are facing, Queens are inclined and the Jacks are profile to make them more recognizable. Aces have been illustrated as red or black short-stemmed roses over a complementary colored shade, and Numbers are also customized and framed with an elegant crown of roses...
The Joker is represented by the character of El Catrin, a gentleman of high society who liked to dress elegantly and walk through the streets boasting of his elegance, in this version of the day of the dead we see him waving politely with his hat, and that in turn wearing to death depicted in her complexion by means of a skull.

The back of the cards is a composition of roses expanding swirling on black background, like a storm of life and death that curls from the ground to the sky to cry respect and attention...
This is a sophisticated deck of classical aesthetic that is immersed in the attractive image of La Catrina and its beautiful meaning. Made with respect to the sober style of the classic Poker designs. A kind of artistic workpiece made in detail that brings together traditional handmade illustration with the most innovative technologies in the production of playing cards.
The rose represents the strong emotional charge that the Mexican culture feel toward death that will come to each of us, and to the respectful memory of our dead, but also represents the female sexuality, that attached to la Catrina should be interpreted as the flirting that is had with death when it’s celebration is feasted.
The Jacks represent a Catrina eyes closed enjoying the scent of the flower that she delicately holds, immersed in her thoughts, perhaps remembering an old friend, perhaps a beloved family member, or perhaps a lost love...
Queens represent a sweet and affable Catrina, who tips her head and diverts her eyes, as observing something in this world that she likes and that calls her attention. Though her lips don’t smile, her expression does.
Kings represent beautiful Catrinas that look us straight in the eyes with an expression that emanates the purest innocence. A kind of Virgin of the Catrinas that is covered with a veil to protect its fragility.
Aces are so simple you can identify them easily but so complex that you will enjoy their artwork and admire them while you have them in our hands
Jokers are represented as a fun Mexican skull with his hat and his mustache
