Stretch Goal: Current stretch goal: $55k, which will allow us to drive R&D and begin production on our future product line, Granola Bites!! Smaller serving size, great for kids (“big kids” too!), healthy, delicious and of course, free of the top eight food allergens. If we hit this goal, every one of our backers will receive a pouch of Bites when we begin production. Read Update #3 for stretch goal details.
What do you get when you combine a blind date, a nut allergy, and a farm-raised foodie? Well in our case, you get a marriage and a start-up. We're launching 88 acres to solve an issue we face every day--a couple, one with a food allergy and one just looking for healthy, delicious snacks, unable to truly enjoy the same foods together. Turns out, we weren't the only ones facing this issue.
88 acres makes healthy snacks in a facility free of the top eight food allergens. Our foods are crafted with simple ingredients and are designed for everyone to enjoy.
We've created a line of granola bars free of the top eight food allergens. They are free of GMOs, are nut free, gluten free and vegan. Our three-seed base of sunflower, pumpkin and flax is packed with protein and minerals. We use natural sweeteners and wholesome, simple, all-natural ingredients.
1) Bring the food allergic & non-allergic communities together through the experience of food that everyone can enjoy
2) Craft foods with the simplest & most sustainably sourced ingredients
3) Create transparency throughout our supply chain to the consumer
4) Promote healthy living and food awareness through events and partnerships
5) Help drive food innovation and education

Where your money is going
After a year devoted to developing our recipes, brand and mission through the MassChallenge, Northeastern University, and Babson College Venture Accelerators, and establishing proof of concept by winning the Babson B.E.T.A. Challenge, we are ready to invite the Kickstarter community to join us in launching 88 acres!
We've finalized the recipes, established our manufacturing partner, and secured the best ingredient suppliers...we just need your help in reaching our goal of $20,000 to get our production run going. All Kickstarter funding will go towards covering the production and launch of our three flavors of bars.
While Nicole grew up on an 88 acre organic farm and started her first food business at the age of 9, she spent the last 10 years in finance before trading in her corporate gig last year to start 88 acres. Over the past year, Rob has been the Chief Taste Tester graciously lending his stomach to all of Nicole's new concepts!
We’ve surrounded ourselves with a rock star list of advisors with industry experience at other consumer product companies such as Kashi, Bear Naked, Kellogg, Zico Coconut Water, and many more. These advisors are graciously guiding & helping us overcome roadblocks to launch 88 acres because they believe in our vision, the market need, and most importantly because they love our bars!!!
Over the past few months, we’ve been able to accomplish some pretty amazing milestones to help 88 acres get off the ground. In March 2013, we were a top ten finalist in the Daily Grommet Product Pitch Competition. Then in April 2013, we won the Babson College B.E.T.A. Challenge. And most recently in May 2013, we were named a finalist in the MassChallenge Venture Accelerator.
Huge Thank You
There is no way we would be where we are today without the help and guidance of many family & friends. You pulled all nighters with us preparing and packaging bars for events. You built our website, created awesome video content, and designed amazing packaging concepts. You invited us to sample product and speak at events with hundreds & thousands of people. And you all inspired us to take a leap of faith in launching 88 acres. Thank you a million times over. And lastly to our new friends, the Kickstarter community, THANK YOU for your support!!
Nicole & Rob
We'd love to hear from you during the campaign! Please drop us a line to say hello, share some stories or comments, and ask questions at email@example.com.
Risks and challenges
We’ve done our best to reduce the risks and challenges that this project may encounter. Over the past 6 months, we have conducted plant trials with our contract manufacturer and have successfully produced prototypes. We also have food manufacturing experts on our advisory team with over 100 years of combined experience helping us navigate the production process.
The timeline that we’ve stated to begin production is based off agreed upon timeline with our manufacturer and suppliers. However, like with any company, there is always the potential that we will encounter issues that will delay our production timeline. We will communicate clearly and often with our backers throughout the Kickstarter campaign and during the production process, especially if our timeline is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
