A message from the main actors as they read a scene from the finished script.
We are a vibrant and experienced team that is excited to share this first of many original stories with the world. With so many negative messages being displayed in theaters and on TV, we want to deliver an entertaining comedy that focuses on everyday human struggles and mistakes that can simply be resolved through love.
We have written several scripts meant to entertain in the same fashion, but as our first feature film we must produce a story within an attainable budget. We chose this to be the first of many projects that conveys a positive message through an entertaining story, which will appeal to a wide range of audiences. Our goal is to make you forget how serious life can be and laugh along with the unique situations and relateable characters we’ve created.
WHY $39,450? WHY not just call it $40,000?
We'll be the first to tell you, that if you help us make it to $40K, no one will be complaining. As a matter a fact, the further we pass our initial goal, the easier life will be for everyone! We planned a very specific budget before launching this campaign. $39,450 represents the number we must achieve in order to produce this film over the course of 4 months.
This number keeps us at the bare minimum (no profits), so we do not need to reach into our life savings and fear that we will not make rent this month. We do not want to dip into little Emily's college fund to rent a police costume.
May and June will be spent in PRE-production:
Location tech scouts, casting actors, getting insurance, story boarding, shooting schedule, purchasing wardrobe, set design, prop shopping, rehearsals, finalizing equipment, and anything else that may be relevant towards getting ready to shoot.
July 7 - August 5 we SHOOT!
We plan to shoot our 90 page screenplay in 20 full, long, tiresome, awesomely fun, production days. The money spent here will go towards hiring cast and crew, company meals (we have to eat), city permits, expendables, special FX, location fees, and any additional equipment rentals.
August - September POST-production
Will all be spent in the cutting room. This is where the magic really happens. We will methodically, carefully, artistically, sew this masterpiece together, which YOU helped us make. Javier and I edit for a living, we are professionals in every sense of the word. This portion of the budget will go towards original scores, audio post production, digital effects, and overall time of being in a studio for hours with no sunlight....eventually leading to Vitamin D deficiency. We have to buy Vitamin D.
After we have the final cut, and are holding the newest and best romantic comedy in the entire solar system, you get your reward! This is the part you have been waiting for! We will ship out what we promised. You can expect your treasures anywhere between October and November.
Whatever money we have left in our budget will go towards marketing the film, securing a distributor, entering it into film festivals, and doing our very best to present it to the world.
Now you see why it wouldn't hurt to go passed $39,450?
Please help us bring Michael and Ava to life through your pledges. Each pledge, big or small, will make a difference and help us succeed in the creation and distribution of this film, a true labor of love and extension of ourselves.
Thank you for your support!

LATEST PRESS COVERAGE
We have had the good fortune of the local press show much interest in our Kickstarter for Love and Hostages. This week alone, one of the most popular radio stations in South Florida had me, David Vargas, over for a one to one interview based on our campaign!
The "Miami New Times wrote a great article about us this week! Click below to read.
Recently I also attended the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas, specifically to decide on new upgrades we will need for our editing station. We will be shooting this film on the BlackMagic cinema camera with a 2.5K resolution. In order to support beautiful imagery like this, I wanted to make sure we made the right decision by seeing live demonstrations of which software best catered towards our film. Here's a recap of my visit to Sin City!
KICKSTARTER fundraising event at SHARKEY'S!
As we make our way through the press, we were put in touch with local bar owner Michael McClaren who is also an independent filmmaker. He is going to be gracious enough to hold a Kickstarter event for our film. 10% of whatever he makes that night will be contributed to our film!

Risks and challenges
Risks and obstacles, both in life and production, are unavoidable. As a production company owner, with over 10 years of experience in the entertainment industry, I have learned that there are no excuses for giving up on your dreams when life happens and things get tough. We are a resilient and committed group that has worked together for years and understand the challenges that come along with bringing an idea to life. We have worked tirelessly to make this film a reality and hope that you will support our journey.
With a total lack of budget thus far, what’s motivated and pushed us to this point is the thought that you will love this story just as much as we do. So here we are! With your support and our drive, Love and Hostages will soon be coming to a theater near you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
