Cowgirls Vs Cthonimon is a retro-styled indie game. It is being developed using the game creation software Gamemaker: Studio. The game is currently in alpha.
You are a space cowgirl, waking up alone, deep in an alien mine. You have no recollection of how you got here, and and no memories of your past. You appear to be well stocked for some kind of showdown, but find yourself lacking a gun. You have a deep seated dread that time is running out, and that some kind of awful doom approaches. No, it's not just monday morning blues!
You must explore the mine to find a way out. Be on the lookout for items that can help you deal with the mines alien inhabitants, friendly folk who can give you important items, and gold nuggets to allow you to purchase new equipment once you have escaped the mine.
Taking inspiration from classic video games like Atic Atac and The Legend Of Zelda, and modern greats such as The Binding of Isaac and Undertale, Cowgirls Vs Cthonimon will appeal to fans of retro visuals, exploration, procedurally generated content, and storytelling.
Infinite replayabilty - Level layouts are procedurally generated. All the way from underworlds, to overworlds to galaxies. Making for a unique new experience every time you play.
Classic Zelda gameflow - Discover new items that grant you new abilities and allow you to unlock new areas on each world.
Changeable environments - Worlds play differently depending on whether doom has fallen on that world or not, reminiscent of the light world/dark world duality of the classic Link To The Past.
Actions have consequence - NPCs respond to you differently according to your previous actions and your standing with different worlds.
Mysterious Story - Fragments from your past are revealed to you in visions that unlock as you take down each alien Boss. Discover your origins and the source of the alien threat. Decide whose side you are really on, and determine who you really are.

We are a very small team of 2 developers with a very big idea. We're putting everything we've learned from working independently and for game studios for the past 15 years into making Cowgirls Vs Cthonimon an amazing experience.
We believe in Cowgirls vs Cthonimon. We want Cowgirls Vs Cthonimon to fulfil its potential and be the best game it can be. In order to do that we need time, and money. Time where we can both focus on polishing each and every element of this project, and money to cover expenses. We need your support to make this project a game worth playing. Together, we can do this!
Art and Code are the foundation blocks of the game, so the majority of the money is going into those areas.
Audio covers both music and sound effects. The audio we are currently using in our Alpha is temporary and needs to be replaced.
Marketing covers any promotional work done, advertising, media reach outs, and game-con attendance (if funding reaches the right level).
Software covers any additional software purchased/ licensed specifically for the project. There is the possibility of shifting our development software from GMS to the new GMS2 for example.
Fees cover the usual Kickstarter and processing fees.
Risks and challenges
Creating a great game is a big challenge. Fortunately, we've been involved in making games professionally for some time, so we are aware of the potential problems that may arise and how to avoid them.
The main risks we face are financing and visibility. We need to raise enough money to keep ourselves going throughout development, and to maintain some level of public awareness of the project. Your support will help reduce both of these risks.
We will strive to keep you up to date with progress on the project to the best of our ability, and we will inform you of any and all issues that may result in delays.
Our mission here is simple: make the very best game we can, with the funds that you make available to us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
