About this project
Necromancer : The Fight For Life is a 2D retro style RPG and monster collection game. Capture, train and battle over 150 unique minions in turn-based 3 vs 3 battles. Explore a shattered world full of cities, cultures, dungeons and mythology, as different factions and alliances attempt to shape the world around your quest.
The game will be story based with multiple endings, various romantic options (including same-sex relationships) and life and death moral dilemmas which will exercise players’ emotional intelligence.
My name is Daniel Bishop, and I have produced everything you see here, excluding the beautiful concept art, music and video. I have adored creating this game for the past six months, and with your help and Kickstarter's help I am confident the game will be complete within twelve months.
For generations, the world of Nevera has been a dark and shattered place. Long ago, a great number of wizards, magicians and sorcerers, discovered powers over life and death.
Consuming and corrupting, the use of these abilities devastated the land, and those who wielded them were called, Necromancers.
Many used these powers to seek tyranny, destruction and immortality, by the most terrible means. Horrendous wars were fought, alliances forged and territories claimed, irreparably misshaping the world.
Now, hordes of undead roam the land like wild beasts, and more Necromancers than ever pursue even greater power. One of the last small places in the world which retains some sense of serenity, will suffer a calamity, and give rise to one who will alter all Nevera, and life itself.
You play Harper (male or female), the young protagonist who from a young age showed talents for necromancy, but hid them away for fear of the responsibility his powers could lead to.
At the beginning of the story, Harper’s village is destroyed by necromancers and undead, and in the chaos his friend Alex is killed. In his panic, Harper attempts to revive Alex using necromancy, but instead accidently fuses Alex’s spirit with a mannequin; caught between life and death.
The main quest of the game will be to find a way to restore Alex to full life, which will drive Harper across Nevera, through the warring factions, clashing against powerful undead, necromancers, and himself, as he attempts to undo his terrible mistake. Along his path will be a vast array of side quests and characters which will draw on myth and lore, reviving classic stories and moral dilemmas.
Eventually Harper will be driven into the underworld, where he will battle gods and suffer trials of the soul; where he will change all of Nevera, and life itself.
Harper's Trail (Main Theme)- composed by Celia Lay, produced by Sophia Kreide.
Woven into classic 2D RPG mechanics, the core of the game-play will be the collectable minions. There will be over 150 minions to capture, evolve and battle.
Each minion will have four battle actions across 48 disciplines, which will grow and change as the minions increase their power.
Necromancer Field Guide
The most exciting reward available is the Necromancer Field Guide (available digitally at $30 and physically available at $80), which is a naturalist’s style guide to the various undead of Nevera.
Below is a concept piece to give an impression of the final Necromancer Field Guide. Not indicative of final quality.
It will include field sketches, research notes and scholarly additions by in-game experts.
Funding will be used to employ a programmer, acquire hardware, software, legal fees and marketing expenses.
