Icicle Table Lamp
and Icicle Desk Lamp
Brent Rogers is a Seattle native who worked many years in the production glass community that is so prevalent there. He furthered his acumen as a glassblower in the art world and has worked beyond production with many glass artists. Since leaving Seattle to move to Chicago he found his way into new avenues of self expression artistically and interesting glass blowing projects such as installations, production for renowned artists, making ornaments for the White House and naturally and most importantly his relationship in 3-Switch.
Having a partner like Patrick Fitzpatrick has allowed him to bring some of his ideas to reality and opened new avenues of thought and influenced production.
Patrick is an Illinois native harking from Effingham. He has always had an interest in art and design which is seen foremost in his attention to detail and his constant revisiting of form alongside function. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana and later made the decision to attend the Art Institute of Chicago....(which he may never pay off as it is probably the most expensive school on the planet...We think there are even cheaper schools in outer space)
But none the less these decisions gave him design skills and eventually led him to be introduced to Brent through a friend in the glass community (Scott Percival).
Together Brent and Patrick have been designing and prototyping meaningful design pieces and have formed a partnership which you know (and support) as 3-Switch.
What we do:
First off we design our clever, insightful, beautiful products for people to enjoy.
Second but not secondly we keep it real with the artists and artistic community that surrounds us. We want to stay true to our goal to open a space to allow those who are too far removed from their dream to get a second chance to design and make something.....WITH THEIR HANDS... and not order it off the internet. We get it. ( If we had wives and kids we wouldn't be doing what we are doing...because it is a struggle and it can get scary because it is a risk.) And Patrick really wants to open an avenue for individuals to realize a dream product and bring it to life without having to pay off an astronomical amount of student debt.
Yes we want to get to the point where we have a space and we produce and prototype really great products and open our doors to the public and help them at the very least personalize something we already produce and in some cases help an individual really get a product out to the public. (That is why we need your help...and lots of it :-) )
And of course our love of art. We both want to continue to make artistic pieces and have hopes of having a joint show together.
Our newest release:
We designed a wonderful lamp with hand blown glass and reclaimed lumber housing a porcelain light fixture and accented with vintage style cord and plug. It comes with an inline dimmer switch. We are offering a white lamp on reclaimed barn wood base with soft white light.
We also offer it in a the "Frost" Shade
and of course the Graphite Shade we Call "Black Ice"
Also upgrade the table lamp to larger base containing organization spaces ideal for a desk. This accent lamp is a wonderful addition to your meticulously designed space or an extremely thoughtful gift. You will love having this warm up your office space, living room or bedroom.
Design your own base!
For those of you who are willing to make a trip to the studio and want something specific created in the wood portion of the Desk Lamp.
Maybe you want a specific slot for your tablet or phone to rest. Maybe you need a lot of space for your keys or you just want a huge spot to place your gigantic scissors.
If you choose the last pledge and make us successful with this Kickstarter we will invite you in to do some tests with your desk articles and mill them in specifically so you get that perfect desk lamp for your office. Possibly the light is on the wrong side of your desk layout and you want a different layout. Anything within reason and physical constraints.
(Yes it must fit within a reasonable extent of the base we are currently using and it isn't something we can do with drawings via email)
But, as always, feel free to ask questions early and often!
How BIG is it?
The Table lamp base is 1.5 inches thick and 6 inches in width. Its length is between 11 and 12 inches.
The Desk lamp is 1.5 inches thick and 6 inches wide. The length is about 21 inches.
The glass shade on the base is approximately 10.25 inches tall.
We thank you for your support and we know you will love our stuff.
Risks and challenges
There is always a risk or challenge putting things out there for people to be without them touching and feeling them in person. But we know we make really nice products and if there is something that someone just does not like then we aim to make it right.
Making things by hand takes time and we know that the Kickstarter community has patience. We want to get things out as soon as we possibly can. We have suppliers in line for our parts and are ready for your orders.
We love giving the person who is buying something of ours a bit of creative control to really "make it theirs". But with that comes some unforeseen problems and as long as every one has patience then we can get through it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
