About this project
Hello! My name is Palmer, and I am excited to “kick-start” my project: MarkerTecture, the first 3D model house made out of dry erase marker board!
I recently graduated college with my degree in architecture. I have always felt that architecture is thought of in a limited way by most people. At first, I wanted to make simple puzzle-like models that were easy to build and take apart, and could be used by anyone. But Gina (meet her in the video) and I thought it could be more. What if you not only could build it multiple times - what if you could draw on it over and over too! Voila, Markertecture was born. After sourcing the supplies and testing it out, I created a little model house made of marker-friendly material that lets you Build, Draw, Erase, and Repeat!
Even though MarkerTecture has unlimited uses, we couldn't help but think it makes a great present!Your coworkers are tired of receiving boring candles and holiday gifts they'll never use. Kids today have so many devices and gadgets to choose from, but limited creative outlets to really let their imagination soar. A MarkerTecture house is something both thoughtful and unique that is sure to be a conversation starter, whether at home in their play room or at work on their desk. The MarkerTecture house is a new and fun way to jot down quick memos, doodle, daydream, decorate or add a homey touch to any space that needs it. It really is a great gift, even if it is for you! And the best part is when you need a change, you can just wipe it clean, and begin again!
Reaching my $8,000 goal will fund the production of all the rewards and help me to purchase my own laser cutter to allow me to create models quicker and more efficiently. Having my own laser will also expand my ability to create MarkerTecture models in different sizes and styles. As the concept grows and sees success, I plan to create a website and start a business of my own. Your support is needed and greatly appreciated. If the goal is not reached, no one gets their amazing rewards. Every bit helps!
Risks and challenges
The designs have been completed and prototypes have been made. I am confident in my ability to produce these products but I have never made such a large order of them and problems may arise. There is also a time constraint with getting these products out for the holiday season. I have taken all these things into consideration and have prepared for them:
SUPPLIES: all supplies are easily available, when the project gets funded I can immediately start production of Markertecture.
PRODUCTION AND EQUIPMENT: All the cutting is done at a local laser cutting and engraving business located in Brooklyn, NY. This allows me to immediately start production before my laser cutter arrives.
HOLIDAY RUSH: All products will absolutely make it for the Holidays. All the holiday packages have been limited so they can be shipped by an estimated date of December 10, 2012.
I am ready to bring MarkerTecture to you and I hope you enjoy it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
