A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
In today's world, products that are created to last are increasingly rare. Our goal is to create a beautiful weekender using the best materials that will last a lifetime.
Are you frustrated with the lack of options to accommodate a short trip or weekend away? We created a stylish solution to replace ugly rollers, oversized duffels and cramped backpacks.
Inspired by functional military bags and parachute equipment, we combined simple construction with honest, durable materials to create a product that will stand up to any adventure.
Unlike a standard duffle bag, we created a bag that has a unique profile and proportions. The Aviator has clean lines with rich layers of overlapping texture and memorable color accents. The interior is filled with modern lifestyle features as well as distinctive details.
If you appreciate meaningful design that is meticulously constructed, ages gracefully, and gets better with use, you will love this bag.
Work: Traveling without a laptop or tablet has become increasingly rare. That’s why we have designed a plush 100% wool felt sleeve to accommodate your laptop, tablet, notebooks, pens and tech accessories.
Shoes: Whether you’re bringing your dress shoes or an extra pair of sneakers, you don’t need them mingling with your clean clothes. A dedicated mesh compartment keeps a proper barrier between your clean clothes and shoes.
We love watches. We know you need options for the right adventure. Whether you’re bringing a GMT, chronograph or your favorite vintage diver, these thick, 100% wool compartments were designed to keep your watches safe and scratch-free.
Wet Clothes: Get wet? No problem. We have a dedicated water-resistant compartment to store your swim trunks or wet clothes.
Exterior pockets: The exterior has both a zipped pocket as well as a non-zipped pouch designed so you can easily access your essentials. Need a safe place for your ID, phone or keys? No problem. We’ve got you covered.
The exterior of the Aviator is constructed from thick, waxed canvas with a premium leather wrapped bottom and nylon handles. The interior sports a Scottish tartan lining, black wool sleeves and foam padding for drop protection.
Tartan Lining: The interior features a distinctive Tartan wool lining. Tartan speaks to our brand DNA as well as our Scottish roots.
Each bag in this edition has its own unique laser-engraved stainless steel tag to commemorate its place in the series. This will put you in a small club of very discerning individuals.
Riri zippers: Details matter. That’s why we sourced the smoothest metal zippers we could find. These are top of the line in both quality and durability.
Inspired by vintage military bags and parachute equipment, we sourced our very own parachute clips for the shoulder strap. These are authentic, military-grade, steel black phosphate parachute clips.

The creation of the Aviator involved a long and iterative development process. We meticulously crafted every detail and touch point. Achieving the best possible design required that we make numerous samples for evaluation. Upon perfecting the Aviator, we located a domestic (US) manufacturer who we believe can deliver our vision. Pre-production is in full swing and we feel confident in replicating the Aviator on a larger scale.
At Fraser Kit Co we believe in the craftsmanship and quality of the Aviator. If you are not satisfied with your bag you will be given a full refund. Each bag comes with a lifetime guarantee. Should any of the materials or hardware fail due to normal wear and tear we will happily repair your bag free of charge.
By contributing you not only secure your very own Aviator bag at the lowest possible price but you also help us to meet the minimum ordering quantities necessary to start production. We need to secure at least 100 orders in order to meet our goal ($40K in contributions).
A good Kickstarter response also helps us build a community of like-minded, design driven enthusiasts to engage with on follow-up projects. Yes, this is just the beginning we have much more to come.
Fraser Kit Co was started as a creative outlet for Ink Studios founder and principal designer Colin Jackson. Colin has a rich history of industrial design consulting.
Fraser Kit Co is company which believes firmly in meaningful, long lasting design. Honest materials, obsessive details and hand crafted construction are values that we cherish. We craft our products in small limited collections and sell them direct to individuals that share our own share our own discerning tastes.
Risks and challenges
Our main challenge is to meet our funding goal of $40K in contributions. This guarantees the minimum ordering quantities necessary for starting production.
We have secured a domestic (US) manufacturer and sourced all of our materials. Now all we need to know is how many to build, and this depends on you.
Our final challenge is to work with our manufacturer to ship these to you as soon as possible. We anticipate completing the orders in 6-8 weeks. We know the Aviator would make a great holiday gift and we will make every effort to meet this milestone.
