Hello, my name is Justin and I’m a brick artist from Singapore. I’ve been using LEGO as a medium to express creativity and have been building for a good four years now. I run a small business called LIONCITY MOCS, where I create uniquely Singaporean assets among other pop culture related items.
I decided to produce an instructional coffee table book showcasing how to build several of the Republic of Singapore Navy’s vessels using LEGO bricks to share the passion of building Singaporean models.
The designs of my models are a reflection of my minimalistic approach to building display or play models that are simple yet aesthetically appealing.
These designs were carefully crafted over 2 years, and I spent an additional 8 months working closely with a talented graphic designer to turn my design ideas into a book . This process was something entirely new for me and there were many learning lessons and much fine tuning to get to the final product.
All the ships represented here are of my own design, but were definitely influenced by various artists. In this volume, I will show you how to build five different designs that are:
This book is a tribute to the Singapore navy and will not only teach you how to build these ships but how to order the parts as well.
You will also learn about the history of the Republic of Singapore Navy, its early days and acquisitions to current day and beyond.
There will also be a section in the book that teaches you how to order the exact parts you need to build these models. We'll cover that in the last section of the book!
I’ve been working with my Graphic Designer for eight months on the layout, photography, text and most importantly, getting the instructions done. It’s been a labour of love as I had no idea making a book would be this much work.
We are now at the final development stage and after several proof readings and testing, the first draft of the book is finally complete.
We have test printed the first version on high quality matte paper with a soft cover & perfect binding finish, and it looks great so far.
Why we need funding?
As we want you to have an awesome building experience, we outsource all our printing to bring you the best quality.
As printing costs run really high, we need to print in larger quantities in order to price the book reasonably.
Our goal is to have at least 200 copies printed and ready to go.
So if you know someone who could benefit from this book, perhaps you can order a copy before our campaign ends.
Who is this book for?
This book is for any Navy or ship enthusiast. It can also serve as inspiration for budding builders to create any country’s Naval fleet - not just Singapore’s.
This book is also a great gift for any LEGO fan and builder - as LEGO enthusiasts would already have most of the parts required to build the models!

Risks and challenges
The main challenge we foresee is to have the printing company deliver the product on schedule and of good quality.
So far, based on our tests, we are confident that these goals can be met.
However, if for whatever reason, they cannot deliver, we always have backups to resolve this issue.
The other challenge is to ship all copies in a timely and professional fashion, which should not be a problem, as I would hire people to help out in terms of label printing, packing and sending the shipment out.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
