One strangely average morning you hear a knock on the door. You open it to find an envelope on the floor. It’s a ticket to Hawaii, and your name's on it baby! But what? When?? Who??? Where?!?! WHO CARES! You take this definitely real, totally not shady gift and get your sweet ass to the airport. The ticket works. You take your seat. Everything is gravy. That is until you're approached by none other than the King of Demons, Satan himself! He reveals that he left you the ticket, and by accepting the trip you activated his trap card! (AKA a non-negotiable contract) The price you must pay is... marriage! That's right, you must find the love of your life and marry her! Otherwise the devil gets your soul! Of course you could always buy your way out with a million big ones, but we all know you can't afford that.
The rules are simple:

- Oh, and you've only got a week. Have fun in paradise!
May 2018 – Now that the Kickstarter is up and running we can turn our full attention to the complete development of “One Hell of a Week.” First up is the script. We have already started writing the full “OHW” script and we have set aside two months to work on perfecting it. Most of the script will be done by July 2018 and we will shift our focus to programming, art, and marketing.
August 2018 – The next milestone is programing the new script into the game and laying out the frame which we will build upon. This includes building mini games, putting in placeholders for any assets that are still in development, and implementing the various meters which will track your progress in the game. This will be done by October 2018.
November 2018 – After programing comes all of our art assets. We will obviously be working on the art throughout the development process. This date is simply a deadline to have every piece of art needed for the game finished. We expect all the art to be completed by March 2019.
April 2019 – Next comes music. Our composer is great and works quickly, so we may not even need this long to get the music done and implemented into the game. However it's better to be safe than sorry. So we have set a hard deadline in June 2019.
June 2019 – So by this time we will have the game completed and will be running it through rigorous testing. Part of that testing will be you amazing people that support us here on Kickstarter. We will post the latest updates throughout the dev process to allow you guys to play the game and let us know about any bugs, errors, or inconsistencies that you find. This will end in June 2019 when we will be finishing the game and sending out the Kickstarter backer rewards.
THIS TIMELINE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE IF ANY STRETCH GOALS ARE MET.
Short answer? We’re poor and we want to make an awesome game for everyone to enjoy.
Long answer? One Hell of a Week has been a passion project for us, and now that the demo is out we plan to make it a professional project. Part of doing that though means taking more time from other things like work, social, and family life. We believe in “OHW” and want to make it the best it can be. We also know that there’s a large demand for quality adult visual novels that skew tired cliches and offer deep meaningful stories about life, love, and horny demons. Crowdfunding seems to be the best way to connect our passion for creating games with your passion for dating anime girls.
The budget for “OHW” is pretty basic. Since each of us came to this team with our own tools and talents, we don’t need a lot in terms of equipment. So we plan to use the funds to pay our team (who have been pretty much working for free up until now) and to cover the cost of running the kickstarter in the first place. (rewards and fees)
Music – $588 We have an awesome composer who created the entire demo soundtrack for pretty much free, and we want to keep him around. This money would go to him for his work on the rest of the game.
Character art/ programing – $588 Our team leader has been giving up her blood sweat and tears to make this game a reality. She is the main character artist and the lead programer for our little group. The money will go to pay her so she can afford to spend more time working on the game. Without her this baby is dead in the water.
Assistance – $588 Like every great team we have that one jack of trades. The one who lends a hand when the workload gets too heavy, or picks up slack where they find it. She works hard to support all of us. We think that deserves a paycheck.
Background art – $588 Our background artist has been with us from the very beginning. She pulls through for us even when faced with the pressures of college life, and the game would not have been possible without her contributions. This money would go to paying her for her work on the rest of the game.
Writing – $588 Aye, thats me! I write the script for One Hell of a Week, a lot of our promotional texts, and I run the twitter account. I don’t really like to toot my own horn so I’ll let the game speak for itself. (go play the FREE demo if you haven't’) The money would go to me for my continued work on “OHW” and allow me to take a month off my other work to focus on creationateing (yes that is a word, I made it one) the best script possible.
Kickstarter fees – $350 I am pretty sure this is self explanatory. Kickstarter fees are anywhere from 5% - 10% so we budgeted for 10% to be safe.
Rewards – $210 Most of the rewards for our backers will be created directly by members of the team and will not cost us anything. This is the budget for things like custom keychains, postcards, and stickers.

$5 – Our next tier starts at $5. This tier gets you a swanky space on our credits screen. Now you can brag to all your friends and family about how you helped fund that one hentai game that got super popular and made tons of money. ;-P
$15 – Next up is the "I need this in my life" tier. For $15 you get a digital download of the entire soundtrack, an exclusive digital poster, and a download of the game when it is completed.
$25 – At $25 you get your name in the credits, the game itself, the complete soundtrack, an exclusive digital poster, and of course our undying affection. But wait there's more! With this tier you will also get a download of the "OHW" art book. It is filled with concept art, character sprites, backgrounds, doodles and chibis! Who knows how much art will be in there by the time we finish this game? Trick question. The answer is you do, in the future! Because you bought this tier and love it! Congratulations!
$50 – We're getting up there with this one. Not only do you get the game, the art book, the soundtrack, the poster and your name in the credits. You also get your choice of one collectible charm as well as two random others from the set, an entire sheet of exclusive "OHW" stickers and a beautiful custom postcard from us at Sumooli Island!
$100 – Now we're in the big leagues. With this tier you of course get all the rewards from previous tiers. However, you also get a personal commissioned work of art featuring the character of your choice. (NSFW or SFW. It's your choice)
$500 – So remember that personal commissioned work of art from the previous tier? Well now you get one with all the girls! Exciting, but not nearly as exciting as this next reward. At this tier you get your own personal copy of "OHW" which includes cameos of you, your OC, or another character of your choice!
$1000 – Wow, just wow! If you buy this tier there are a million and one things we will want to do for you, but many of those things might be illegal. So instead we are offering a personal copy of one hell of a week featuring you, your OC, or another character of your choice as a main character and love interest in the game! Wouldn't it be fun if you could make up for a total lack of personality with the directional sense of a pigeon and the piercing, tunnel-like perception of a professional yandere? Turns out you can! If we reach this goal we will be adding a map, meters and a PHONE.
Map: The map will be... a MAP! You will be able to access the map and use it to visit locations around Sumooli Island in your free time. Maybe run into some side characters, buy some gifts, pick places to go on dates, plan a murder...The possibilities are endless! :-)
Meters: The meters are a simple mechanic meant to add a little more depth, certainty, and self determination to the game. Each girl will have a lust meter and a love meter. These may be fairly self explanatory, but for the sake of being Thoreau I will spell it out. (Yes, I did just make a lame literary pun. sue me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) The lust meter keeps track of how thirsty each girl is for your luscious lady parts, and the love meter keeps track of how deeply... well, in love they are. Your job is to fill both those babies up and keep them filled. Fill the lust meter without the love and she will think of you only as a booty call. Fill the love meter without the lust and sure she'll love you... As a friend. A totally platonic not-in-any-way-sexy friend. The meter levels will directly impact the ending of your play through.
Phone: And most awesomely... the phone! The phone will give you the never before seen ability to communicate over long distances! With this newfangled device you can access the entire wealth of human knowledge, organize charity drives, diagnose illnesses, build video games, and take part in global discourse propelling the human race to new heights of Knowledge and philosophy, all with a few swipes of the finger! Or you can use it to sext, and stalk your girl on instadamn. #booty4lyfe. I can't say we'd blame you. Imagine all the nudes you'll get! :O

... Fine, I'll explain. If we hit this goal we will be adding skill based and quick thinking games to dates and events throughout "OHW". This means timers on important decisions, visual puzzles, I-spy style collection challenges, and even an obstacle race or two. I know, I know, some of you will be put off by the idea of needing both hands on the keyboard. Just remember; this is a serious game, about serious people doing serious things. It's not a wankfest for you to pet your kitten to... Just kidding, we would love for you to bust a few while playing. Just, uh... maybe don't tell us about it.

Even more original music will be created by Sean Kim, our friggan awesome composer, and placed into the game. This means you get twice the sweet tunes to enjoy as you try to convince a total stranger that the love you have between you is eternal, and definitively not a product of demonic deals in any way... at all.

We can't explain this ending since its well... a secret. It could be anything though. It could be the honeymoon, the first home buying experience, a visit from an old love interest, a drug fueled rampage, a run for political office... It could be literally anything, because it's a secret.

Whoa, yeah! You read that right. If we reach this goal we will add a brand new love interest to the game! There are still a few (a lot of) things to work out about her(?) like who she is, what she looks like, where she's from, what she likes...you know, the little things. I wonder what kind of girl she'll be. Maybe an angel, or an alien? A cat girl or a vampire? Hell, maybe it'll even be Abo's own demonic daughter! One thing is certain... Votes will be cast and loins will be swollen!
VOICE ACTORS [ $6,300 ]
Hate the voices in your head? Shut them up with the magical power of voice acting! If we reach this level of funding we will be hiring a few voice actors to play all of our characters. I don't know about you, but I would love to have Nyarai's silky voice all up in my ears.

We don't expect this level of funding AT ALL. But we are more than prepared for it with a list of million dollar Ideas. The first and most obvious Idea is to make a romantic path for Abo. Other Ideas include making the game 3D and third person, adding more RPG elements, adding more choices, loads of new characters, new locations, combat, making a spin off, character customization, merchandise, etcetera... So you know, if you really, really, REALLY love this game you could shoot for this goal. But just know, we love you regardless. <3 <3 <3

Risks and challenges
And now It’s time to get real with you.
We aren’t trying to do anything crazy with “One Hell of a Week.” We just want to have fun and make a great visual novel for you all to enjoy. That being said we are a really small team, there are only 5 of us and we are each specialized in our field so if one of us gets sick, loses internet, or has some other issue it will cause a slow down in our work. However, we have factored in extra development time to account for any unforeseen hiccups, and we are 100% committed to making “OHW” the best it can be.
What if we fail? If we fail to secure funding we will just keep on keepin’ on. While funding would make our lives (and by extension, the game) a lot better. We are already working on “OHW” and we will not allow our work to be wasted. If worst comes to worst (super, extremely, uber unlikely. Like somebody would have to die before we left this game unfinished.) and we are not able to complete the game in all its intended glory, we will finish what we can and release the minimum shippable product as a free or discounted Visual Novel on itch.io and the Sumooli Island website.
As a disclaimer: While each of our team members has been working in their respective fields for a few years on their own, this is the first game made by Sumooli Island as a company.
