We're going back gnome!
That's right, folks! Old School miniatures is at it again. We have more exciting gnomes to add to our range. You can find our previous Kickstarter here. Previously, we released a full gnome army designed to meet your traditional tabletop wargaming needs. This included common troop types like speargnomes, crossbowgnomes, halberdiers, artillery, fox riders, character models and villagers.
This time around we have a full regiment of gnomes armed with pikes; Four front rank poses, four rear rank poses, and a full command set. We also have a baggage train pulled by cute billy goats. This includes 2 waggon variants, 4 gnome attendants, 3 goats, and 3 different cargo sets to fill the waggons. Next, we have mounted character models - these are fully compatible with our foxes and swallows! (All our mounted gnomes can ride both foxes and swallows). And, that's not all! We also have some gnomish sappers ready to dig trenches and fortify your battlefield. They come in four poses armed with shovels, picks, and wheelbarrows. Last, and certainly least, we have two wee little gnomish nappers sculpted. These are ideal for your gnomish army camp for an adorable night raid vignette.
Stay tuned though, if we get enough support there should be more fun gnomes on their way! Take our survey to let us know what you'd like to see! Our fans will really call the shots on the stretch goals.
Photos of the new gnomes
But that's not the end of our gnomely ambitions! And, that's where you come in, humble patrons. Our sculptor, Byron, has lots of fun ideas for more gnomes, but we simply can't do them all. We've set up a survey for our patrons to fill out. It is filled with all of Byron's silly ideas for the gnomes. We will regularly update our stretch goals until the end of our campaign based on the input from our fans.
Pike Gnomes - add £21
A unit of 15 Pike Gnomes including full command
If you want to add additional Pike Gnomes to the unit they come in packs of 4 for £5 so add £5 to your pledge
Baggage Train - add £18
A Baggage Train made up of three Carts with goats to pull and cargo. The unit also includes two wagon riders and two attendants.
You might want additional civilians as seen in the pic above. You can order the Villagers from our previous kickstarter to add to your Baggage Train by adding £15 a £2 discount
Gnomes take Flight - add £22
We almost unlocked these last time but it's time the Gnomes got into the air.
A unit of 5 Gnomes on the swallows - 4 swallow sculpts.
The Swallows also come with fake metal rocks such that brass rod may be inserted into the rock and the birds for basing purposes. We recommend that the rock be glued onto a base of your choice for added stability.
Mounted Heros -add £4 each +£2 to mount on swallow
- Wizened Caster
- Adept Illusionist
Mounted on a fox +2 for mounted on a Swallow or +1 for Tazelworm
Nappers - add £5
A pair of nappers
Sappers - add £17
Four teams of sappers (eight gnomes)
Tatzelwurm -add £3
A model of the legendary Tazelworm - some say the only the bravest of gnome warriors can mount one and ride it into battle
A Gnote on our aesthetics and scale
Our gnomish range harkens to the golden age of 1980's fantasy miniatures. Before the inundation of tawdry pauldrons. Before the never ending spectacle creep. Before super-epic gold armor and massive foam weapons. Before the Grim Dark. Our gnomes take the 80's aesthetic of high fantasy with an organic clumsiness about it (without a loss in sculpting or casting quality.) We aim for our gnomes to feel lighthearted and plausible with an appearance borrowed from the late medieval Swiss.
Our gnomes are scaled to fit alongside 28mm scale models. They are 13-15mm to the eye and and therefore about thigh-high on a typical human or elf. Most photos feature them on traditional 20mm bases for reference. They are diminutive in size, as gnomes should be.
This is the current ranking of stretch goals based on your feedback.
Unlocked! - £800 Stretch Goal 1: Female gnomes - add £16 to your pledge for 8
In times of dire need female gnomes will take up arms with their menfolk. These models will be equipped with pikes (which can be shorted to be spears or halberds) or crossbows so that they can be mixed into existing units of gnomes. [5 rank and file poses +3 command models]
Unlocked! - £1200 Stretch Goal 2: "Long Hats" or "Old Keebler Guards" add £21 to your pledge for 15
Cantankerous grumbly old gnomes in outdated armor and pitted weapons. An elite cadre of veterans, esteemed elders, and judging eyes. Unit 15 including 3 gnome command
Unlocked! - £1600 Stretch Goal 3: curmudgeonly old gnomish Warrior Lord - Add £5 for set of 2
Since the signing of the Oath of Grutli, power in the gnomish confederacy has shifted away from the old feudal order toward the guilds and tradesmen. But, the old feudal lords still exist and every now and again can be seen on the field of battle fulfilling their ancient duty to protect their feudal domains. Like the tall hats they have been slow to adapt to the times, and continue to wear their ancient armor and wield traditional morning stars [2 models]
Unlocked - £2000 Stretch Goal 4: More Villagers - add £15 for set of 7-9 minis
Mushroom farmers, cobblers, smiths, bar tenders, milking a big cow, arguing with a squirrel etc [6-9 models]
Locked - £2500 Stretch Goal 5: Gnome Peasants
In times of need the peasants of the gnomish confederacy can be levied for war. Their farm tools are reshaped into with flails and two-handed clubs. These weapon choices are modeled after the Swiss peasant revolts [4-6 rank and file models + 3 command models]
Locked - £3000 Stretch Goal 6: Alpine Mountain Giant
Giants exist all over the world. Like men, they are not inherently good or evil. Up in the sky piercing mountains overlooking the gnomish alpine settlements there too also dwell giants. The gnomes treat these giants as allies. They gift to them food and clothing in gnomish fashion in exchange for brute labor and military service. [ 1 giant, and perhaps some gnomes that are grumpy that he stepped on their property]
Locked £3500 Stretch Goal 7: Swordgnomes
Gnomes armed with swords and shields [4-6 rank and file + 3 command models]
Locked £4000 Stretch Goal 8: Giant Owl Character Mount
Lower down, under the timberline, the woods are filled with all manner of typical woodland creatures. Among these creatures are typical owls found in the trees. However, there are also giant owls! While they are not quite as big as the eagles of legend, they are silent hunters. [one big bird]
Locked £4500 Stretch Goal 9: Gnomish Handgunner
After a recent defeat at the hands of black powder weapons the leadership of the confederacy has undertaken to stock their armories with handguns. Modernization of arms is imperative in order for the gnomish confederacy to maintain its independence from their larger and domineering neighbors. This option will focus on marching and firing line poses. [5-7 rank and file poses + a leader model]
Stretch goal Gnote from the Sculptor:
Hello eager patrons and gnome aficionados,
Byron here. I won't put my thumb on the scales to change the outcome of the patron survey. BUT! I will say that I am especially partial to a few of the stretch goal ideas. Particularly, the River gnomes, the Saboteurs, and the Mountaineers. While javelin-armed Peltast skirmishers don't play to the gnomes' strengths, the idea of gnomes with cute fish hats and flippers is super adorable. Saboteurs present the possibility of characterful vignettes of little gnomes up to mischief. These would be fun to sculpt and could have lots of applications on your battlefield and off. Finally, I look forward to sculpting the mountaineers. Little gnomes braving the Matterhorn in heroic climbing poses. Using teamwork to overcome the elements and battle gibbering goblins and drooling trolls in the high peaks.
Gnomes Part 1

Risks and challenges
The only risk is that if this goes very well the delivery dates could be delayed while Byron gets sculpting.
All the initial items are mastered and ready to go into production
We have run 11 successful kickstarters that have delivered with delays only caused by sculpting of stretch goals. The date proposed is realistic if we get around half the stretch goals hitLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
