The Alpine Gnomes
Gnomes are a diminutive, austere, and productive alpine people. They share a similar cultural background, language, and temperament with their dwarf cousins. Though also mountain dwelling, gnome settlements are isolated and distinct from the dwarves, and hidden by illusory magics. Gnomish towns are semi-subterranean more akin to the mining towns of men or forest hamlets. Gnomes are not skilled metalworkers like the dwarves. Most are humble craftsmen who would rather bake, coop, cobble, mill or farm than face a hoard of gibbering goblins. These productive trades have put the gnomes in significant contact with the men of the lowlands. Because gnomes are less doughty than the dwarves they have taken to the cooperative drill and tactics of these men to face foes greater than themselves. This combination of isolated settlements, humble guilds, and teamwork-driven tactics has led to the gnomes having very close knit communities and a democratic society. Gnomish military decisions are heatedly debated and eventually agreed upon by a council of senior guild leaders and learned wizards. Gnomish armies, though made up of citizen craftsmen, are known for their discipline and lack of generals.
What the gnomes are up to
We present out first installment of Gnomes sculpted by the Gnome master - Byron Harmon. The goal of this campaign is to produce a range of gnomish miniatures that can be fielded in a traditional fantasy tabletop game. In this first installment we aim to fill out the common needs of wargamers: spearmen, halberdiers, crossbowmen, along with the standard fill of command models and a hero. Should we get enough funding, future installments will include spell casters, more heroes, warmachines, mounted troops, casualties, and an assortment of less orthodox gnome troop types to fill all the needs of today's tabletop gamer. Let us know in the comments what types of gnomes you would like to see.
The gnomely aesthetic
There has been a growing trend toward escalating super-epic legendary HIGH fantasy covered in pauldrons, spikes, and gold. This has made us old grumblers scratch our beards, harrumph, and all manner of nostalgic murmurings for the "good old days." Our goal is to make a range of gnomes that hearkens to the golden age of metal miniatures. Consequently, our gnomes are low fantasy with a playful aesthetic that alludes to the high medieval period Swiss, with a gnomely twist.
The Old School Miniature Company was setup on 2016 focusing on developing a line of models specifically reflecting the golden age of metal 28mm miniatures from the 1980's. This is our first army to be launched and we are also launching our Legions of Legend which will be unit deals for minis so collectors can get a whole unit in one box. Eventually we hope to introduce packaging to again reflect the golden era. We are active on facebook

Risks and challenges
This is our second kickstarter after the Daemon Cannon last year (still available on facebook)
There is no risk of non-delivery but time scales could slip.
If the project has significant number of strech goals reached these could be on longer shipping time scale due to needing to be sculpted and master moulds made. We will offer options for part shipping at additional cost if this means we will miss our initial timelines.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
